Hi all, Ask u all two question. I am deciding to buy d5000 kit 1 (18-55mm) $1299 , or d5000 kit 2 (18-55mm and 55-200mm) $1599 which Harvey Norman is now offering. I not so sure which one i should i buy. Cos firstly, if i buy kit 2, gd thing is that got two lenses, not a bad deal for extra $300. bad thing is that once u got use of it, u wana get a better len, which u won't use that lens anymore. Wasted. Secondly, if base on the first gd thing. with $1599 i can get a better cam like d90 kit 1. Thirtly, if i get d5000 kit 1, safe the $300, save more and can get a better lens, or maybe flash light...etc. Pls adv on this. Thks.

Second question, I am going to Perth, isit a one idea to bring one lens or two? 18-55mm seem to be eoungh for all kinds of normal shot. Cos i am still a newbie in this. Need all of your adv. thks.

acutally D5k+kit 1 can get it at $1199, I was quoted this price from HN before. I think kit2 shd a bundle package HN is selling. maybe other shop can get it lower.

I got the Kit 1 + Sigma18-200 @ $1900, I am those lazy ppl who dun like to change lens, 1 lens thru out the whole trip. I got the kit lens simply bcos its just $100 differences from body only ,I use it as a back up lens in case the sigma 18-200 fail(at least I can still shoot)

and some ppl may say why not get the D90 kit 1, its so much cheaper than $1900.its simply my lazyness, I just dun like the idea of changing lens when travel. and I am not pixel peeper, so I can live with lower IQ. and also I dun intend to buy any flash, not a event or indoor person.

Travel Photography is about enjoying the scenary and capturing it, the last thing on my mind shd be what lens shd I use???!?!....I dun wanna end up being a lens man....which I have seen a lot of lens man buying the best lens but the pic taken totally sux.
get the basic right before anything.

do you guys ever encounter this problem?

you switch to 'M' mode, tried to take a shot, the camera auto decide the shutter speed and F number you should use and change your setting to that. you set the setting back to your desired number, and take the shot. just when you want to take another shot, the camera change all your number back to what it think it should be again. i was in 'M' mode all the time. and pic taken using my setting all turn out nice and normal.

i have to re-adjust all the shutter speed and f number every time i need to take picture, which is too troublesome for me.:sticktong: when shotting events, i don't have the time to do all those re-setting.

does you guys know which menu option to disable?

thanks in advance.......!

bro...your gf nvr complain the diamond is too small ...cannot see....hahaha....:devil:

pic#2, got some feel.....nice...

I think #4 sky abit flush out...maybe next time u can try focus half sky..half roof to get the in between setting, but sky with no cloud very tricky ....
just my 2cents worth..

maybe you already know, just to share some small tips with bros here.....take pic at 2pm is very challanging...the lighting can be very harsh.... the sky will get flush out easily....try taking it at 7-9am , or 4-6pm....if u r lucky..u can get the golden light...which will really pop up the pic....

Hi there bro.. I also have the same problem. It's a bit too tedious to reset every time you shoot. Anyone here knows how to disable/enable anything to keep this from happening?

Hi guys,

Need some advice:

1) Anyone know where to buy a screen protector for the D5000 lcd? One of those stick on film types.

2) What settings should I use when I want to take photos where EVERYTHING (foreground and backfround etc) is in focus? There are times when I don't want to use aperture priority mode and get the whole shallow depth of field effect and I just want a simple point and shoot style photo where EVERYTHING is in focus. My previous Sony point and shoot could do that, but I find that when I use Auto mode on my D5000 I still get the shallow depth of field effect where somethings are in focus and others are not. (Note,I dont want to use manual focus).

Thansk in advance!

focus at a very far object or use landscape mode (landscape mode will give small aperture)..most point and shoot unable to shoot shallow DOF (small sensor, small aperture) that's why you see everything in focus..

Q1, I dun think the screen protector for D5k is out..at least I have not see it yet....but I went to daiso and get a 3" one....can cover at least 95%......
Q2, just use a smaller aperture (high f number, e.g. f22) but watch out for your shutter speed...dun get too slow...or u may get camera shake...
