Anyone else using a silver d50?
Initially I didn't really like it... but the more I look at it, the more I find it unique and full of character
yeah... long live D50!

woah still quite alot of ppl using D50! and i agree that it is the most underrated camera in nikon's list of slr. and i tried out the D40 but its too small for me. much like the normal compact camera. so any suggestions on outings or anything?

Maybe I'm too picky but I've got a problem with the noise after ISO 800... other than that, love the cam. By the way, it's also just nice for use with IR photography with the R72 filter.

A D50 outing is a must for this solid camera. Anyone else got suggestions of a good place to go?

Things that I love from Nikon D50
1. I can use all my Nikon lenses including the AF-D, specially Nikon 60mm F2.8 Micro (I really need this lens for Underwater photography)

2. The Grip, it's very nice compare to Nikon D60 (in my personal opinion) Nikon D60 is too small for my hand. I'm having a little bit hard time when I want to shoot macro with Nikon D60 (hand held) because the grip is too small, my hand keep shaking >,<

3. Battery Life is excellent

Cons:

1. the viewfinder is very small compare to Nikon D60
2. Does not have electronic range finder :p
3. The LCD screen is small and hard to see from some angle :)

Here is an example shot from Nikon D50 + Sea&Sea housing
Soft Coral crab (the size of this soft coral crab is not bigger than a soy bean)

Let me the 13th user. I got the D50 1st hand some years ago. Also my first DSLR. Too bad Nikon decided to obsolete it so soon.

Hi Liionel
I was about 15cm away from the softcoral crab ^^
I took that picture at Lembeh, North Sulawesi

Another D50 user here, my very first DSLR, never feel the urge to upgrade...nice compact camera, takes great pictures, low noise, long battery life..have been using it with 105vr, 85mm and 200mm...for the current used price, is hard to beat...

er..this means..
what the lenses that the d80 can take..the d50 also can take..
which the d40 cannot?

yup .. thats right. D80 lenses can be used on a D50 and autofocus will work. And there is plenty of good used Nikkor lenses out there :)

Another NIKON D50 user here!!

upgraded to d300 liao. but still have d50 as my backup cam.

still a very lovely camera to own....the d50. if i need to go light, i wouldnt hestitate to take the d50 with me.

I noticed a few have since upgraded to D300. I will later this year. If there a very steep learning curve from the D50 to D300?
