But well in my opinion, the D3 series are all flagships. :bsmilie:

Loving the camera. If there's any reason I'll use the pop-up flash, it's for Commanding the remote speedlights. Nevertheless, D3s can always use the SU-800, or SB900/800 to act as the commander. Solves the problem.

anyway, can't go wrong with D3s. best low-light camera in the nikon lineup... for now.

but, the weight is a b1tch... the older you get (and the more kids you have), the smaller the camera i have... heh...

Second that... the older one gets, the more likely the person's getting a compact... Took the D3S to Hong Kong recently and it felt like a burden until I just slap a 50 1.4 onto it...

But still love the D3s for what it does best - low light and fast action shooting.

Still looking for a suitable travel camera but not DSLR

perhaps u should bring along your walking stick (monopod) for your "D3S" when u go out :bsmilie:

Anyone using the AF-C (51 points 3D tracking) of the D3s? Seems like pretty useful but probably need more practice on it, considering I had been an AF-S guy for the longest period of time before D3s.

Shot a short demo of how the AF point moves around in this 3D tracking mode, which I find pretty interesting! :bsmilie:

I have used this Tracking mode on mine D700, every shot turns out properly focus. Specially useful if you are shooting from a moving object such as train or airplane.

In what sense it's slow? Well actually the photographer plays an important part to track the subject as well. As far as possible, the photographer will have to keep the subject within the frame (even though it's ok if it leaves temporarily). Certainly if the subject dashes in and out at breakneck speed, 3D tracking won't work so efficiently... :bsmilie:

Perhaps I am still the old school photographer, I am more used to the AF-S.
point, focus, recompose.

although my D700 has 51 pts, i only use 1 pt.... ahaha

If I was shooting a car racing or sport event, definitely I would not use this 3D tracking, it's too slow.
I would use AF-S and 1 focus point is enough.

Well I was actually thinking that AF-C would turn out to be much more useful in a situation like a race or sport? Haha.

bros, I just got the D3s - still pretty overwhelmed by its features.

Quick question - i think there is a catch within the camera itself to put a plastic protector over the 3" LCD but i can't find this accessory in the nikon website. Google does shows a few 3rd party ones, but does any shop in singapore sell them?

I bought it over eBay. Perfect fit, and seems like pretty good material too.

Bro, what flash do you couple with your d3s? I have a SB-900 but considering SB-400 which seems to be EOL. I need something light and small for traveling - coming from a d700 that small built in flash does comes in pretty handy at times!

I use SB900... But with the D3s + 24-70mm f2.8, the weight is a killer! I had since begun making good use of the low-light capabilities of the D3s, and I must say, the results are pleasing! Most of the "clients" I encountered prefer the natural light photographs.

I use the SB900 and the Quantum Trio (www.qtm.com).
