I read from the web somewhere that some people have all kinds of setup for getting such macro shots. They prefocus the lens and then using an optical trigger such that when the insects trips the optical path, the shutter will be released.

wah optical trippers ... like setting up some claymore mines hahaha

would be expensive wouldn't it to have such equipment?

Some people just go all out.. Let me see if I (or someone else) can find the link... It was posted in CS quite a while back.

Still couldn't find the link.. I think the guy made them himself from various parts.

One big downside to owning a D300.. Now all my other lcd screens (on my other cams) look like c**p:o:o

wah you mean you won the 1000K toto hong bao! haha ;)

Don't know... haven't checked yet;) Oh yes, I got the number of zeros wrong. Should've been 10000K instead - anyway, I'd still settle for one zero less!!

Me upgraded from a D80 to D300 too ... almost bot a D200 though and last minute plonk my dough on this solid baby after some test shot. Details? Read the abv ... mostly stated by bros here already. Me newbie ... :p

when are you going to shoot your watch for me to see?:D

wah you very the brave to plonk your money into a semi-pro to pro cam!!!

but i'm sure you are very happy with your new baby!!!

it's a tok-kong camera!

Err ... actually bot the wrong cam. Wanted the one with less 2 zeros ;p Anyway, can't agree more on the tok-kong part though. ;)

when are you going to shoot your watch for me to see?:D

Haha!!! U oso inside here ar? Dun tempt me ... DUN!!! Anyway, waiting for u to pass one of your old ones to me. :bsmilie:

yep it would be nice to be able to get 2 zeros less

the D3 is even more tok kong!

good: Bought the d300 recently, immediately used 'her' to cover a wedding and 'she' immediately performed almost flawlessly. the colors, the sharpness (gotta bump up a few notches), the noise, the AWB, the metering, the 51pt autofocus are revoluntionary compared to my d70.... great camera, I think it'll last me as long as the d70 (3-4yrs)

bad: D-lighting is a nice feature but underexposes the pics a bit... (nothing fotochop nor a little exposure compensation cant fix). also wished it was alittle lighter.. wish only

here's 2 fotos from the d300 that I like that the d70 probably couldnt handle.
1st foto Matrix metering, compensating handling bright objects, 51pt autofocus for foreground subjects.
2nd foto Red roses - always posed a difficult challenge for awb on my d70

I don't use D-lighting.. Don't find the need to. You might want to load in D2X Mode I picture control if you haven't. I like it more than the standard because of the more film like feel to the colour which I liked of the D2X.

So roses are finally red for you? ;p

U knowwwwww the poem =) was supposed to be a cheesy joke for the newlyweds...
