it should be "better gear make better picture" ;p

I presume this post was made in jest.

If not, taking good photos would be as simple as getting a Leica S2 and all the accompanying lenses.

The Leica S2 only takes perfect pictures. The M9 takes perfect pictures 90% of the time, and the M8.2, 82% of the time.

Though I'm a 7D user but I have used my friend's D300 before and I suggest that you stick with D300.

Reason is simple, controls and handling of the camera. Locations of the buttons will be different, menu settings also different and you may not be used to shooting and setting the camera simultaneously when you are too unfamiliar to the body. Specifications of the body is one thing but you missed out a major point, which is ease of use for yourself. Without the ease of use, you'll find yourself not able to take good pictures at all. That's the reason why I'm sticking to Canon as I've used several of Canon's bodies and I'm already used to it. ;)

Have to agree with NovJoe. I own a Canon system and found the interface of the D90 rather confusing when I had to use one (extensively) recently. I think it would be the same the other way ard.
You'd get used to it after a while, but it might be a little frustrating at first.
Funny thing is I can switch to Sony DSLRs quite easily :dunno:

They all do it on purpose. Nikon and Canon do it to make sure one cannot switch to the other easily. Sony does it to make sure that Nikon and Canon users can switch to theirs easily ;)

Sony and Canon menu/camera systems are straightforward and easy to use. Nikon tries to give their users maximum freedom in configuring their cameras (except for their entry level ones), hence the complexity. Horses for courses.

hi guys, sorry for the late reply, 've been very busy recently.

thanks for all the replies. guess I might continue with my D300 :)

hmm but can I check, I've heard that Nikon's pictures usually have higher contrast as opposed to Canon's? and that Canon produces better colours than Nikon? hope someone can clarify this, thanks! :)

Yes, this is the general consensus. However, with post processing contrast and colour can be manipulated to the heart's content particularly if one is working with RAW files.

pic can manipulate with PP le, if u wanna jump because video u might as wee jump up to D300s or even better jump down to D7000 otherwise might as well stay with D300 it's a good cam(PS: i'vu u're letting go cheap i'm willing to tke :bsmilie:)

i think the major difference here is the movie recording function.

Both camera are equally good..7D is a newer model compare to D300...with higher shutter speed n noise control thats all..other function like video mode is jus good to have..

Keep ur D300 as spare body and get a D3X..haha

thanks for all the comments guys! :)

will close this thread! :)
