U can start with 50mm f1.8 (abt $180) and 85mm f1.8 (abt $600), reasonable price and reasonable quality, Cathay Photo and Alan Photo are the more popular stores.

18-70 can't resolve image well on the D200... :sweat:

What zoom lense would you guys recommend for a max budget of $500? 2nd hand also can. student here, limited cashflow.
In simple terms, he means, the camera's resolving power is greater than the lens. i.e. Many of the flaws in the 18-70 is going to show up in images taken with the D200.
The wise old adage of... always get better lenses than your body. Save up. Buy an excellent lens and it will last you generations of bodies.
one workaround is to shoot at lower megapixels. you don't always need 10MP for everything. :bsmilie:
