Well the advice just keeps getting better!!! I will certainly take all your suggestions into account. Usually I enjoy the challenge of hunting for the best price, so I like the idea of getting into the city and back. And if there is a CS member who is in the area and wants to help then I would certainly appreciate it.

AIMZ - do they actually stock the D200 or do you need to order in advance?

Do the city shops also sell second hand? Say a D2X?

Unless you go to a shop that sell second hand product.

If you really want to buy second hand product, the buy/sell is the best to source for one. Then ask them to meet you at the airport on that that for collection is the best! And best price as well! :bsmilie:

Good idea, I can try closer to departure, I suppose it will be luck.

Anyone thinking of selling a D200 or D2X, I am looking.

Bye

Hi Che, as the D200 is newly launched and a model that many were anxiously waiting for, the chances that it is out of stock is high. This being the case, I would suggest you call the shops and reserve a unit for when you arrive.
John 3;16, as suggested by Ahv is in Funan, and near other malls which have dedicated photography equipment shops. Just a walk across the road is Peninsula Plaza. In it you can find a number of these shops, Cathay Photo being the biggest, and offers the best deals (within Peninsula that is). As these malls are around the City Hall area, establishments nearby include Chijmes (restuarants, pubs, cafes some shopping), City Hall shopping complex (within the Swissotel hotels, formerly known as The Westin Stamford and Plaza, S'pore's tallest hotel), The Esplanade, The Fullerton Hotel, The Supreme Courts, etc. As a visitor to Singapore, if you've never been , this may be a good time to just walk across and check them out. All are within a max walking distance of 30mins.
Alternatively, if you're here to just grab the cheapest D200 and go, as far as we know, the cheapest place is MS Colour located at Block 711 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8. You may grab a train (MRT) from the airport and alight at the Ang Mo Kio station, and it's just minutes' walk away. This is at a small town centre in the heartlands so don't expect posh layouts and people. But I must add that the service staff at the shop are friendly and very helpful.
Call them now to book your D200 at +65 6457 6380.

I just check with MS Colour last night and they have a waiting/reserve list for the D200. Price is $2950.00 with GST. If you want the D200, you'll need to get on the list. Not sure if you can get on the list since you're a tourist, but I can help as I've known them for a no. of years. When will you be coming to Singapore? If I'm not shooting that day, I don't mind meeting you at the airport and driving you around. If you need any help, let me know.

Let us know if you want to get the D2X and we'll check the price for you.

Hi Che,
May I suggest to you to Email them now at the followings to give you an Equote first :-
My experience tells me that they give better price when u obtain a price frm them via email.. after that go down to the shop and ask to be given a price not higher than that. (usually you need to print out the reply email to quote for the given price)

1) Cathay Photo : email@cathayphoto.com.sg

2) Alan Photo : phsphoto@singnet.com.sg

It's at the transit areas right? I was at T2, maybe because I did not see it on the display or the boxes behind the counters. If coming back can buy anot? or will ganna gst?

Is it worth buying at the transit lounge? I tried once some time ago. The shop only willing to quote a price that was about S$50 cheaper than list price (less GST) for a D70 kit.

By the way, you can buy at transit area when you leave or return to Singapore. The difference is you have to pay GST is you are returning.

i'm working at changi airport for my attachment, so if u need my help, can just drop me a PM, although i dun think i'll be ard after 6pm everyday...

Can't see it... haiz...
