Nikon announces Nikon D800 and D800E 36mp

Do you really think it will be just 3.5k here? I have the feeling it might be much more...

Msrp is usd2999.
Convert to sgd will be 3900+/-
street price of 3500 shouldn't be too far too. ;)

Let all keep our finger crossed and wait. Just my guess anyway.

According to XE.com, US$2999 = S$3,741.50. 7% GST later, it is S$4003.41. Slap on a S$200 margin. And it is the S$4199 I predict :)

street price? I think should be around $3500-3600 range...

Hmmm... I rarely compare prices of camera products between USA and Singapore, but the additional S$200 seems a little greedy right? Or has it always been the case and I am simply ignorant of it?

D800 to ship 18th March for US. (Nikon Rumors)
How long does it usually take before international retailers (like sg) get stock?

When did D700/D3S etc start shipping in US, and when did it arrive in SG?

I'm guessing it should reach by the same time, but may be less than 20pcs for the entire SG... Each shop may have 3 pcs? I'm just random guessing btw, dun take my word for it.

Your prediction sound plausible too. 1 more month to wait.

is nikon showroom already has the D800? can't wait to do some testing with my card...

how many 16gb cards do i need to sustain this beast :O

just a few little words of caution:

unless you are confident you would be able to reduce the appearance of moire in the capture process, or know how to handle it if it is present in shots captured, wait for Nikon's update to Capture NX to see how effective it is in fixing moire before you put money down for the D800E... from what their press statement said, Capture NX only solves colour moire, which is easy to fix... no mention of fixing luminance moire, which is really hard to fix...

in my opinion, if Adobe and Phase One and a whole bunch of other companies known for their software know-how can't offer a solid solution to luminance moire, I don't really expect Capture NX to be able to do all that much for it... don't get me wrong, I'll welcome Nikon proving me wrong on this, but I won't be holding my breath...

YMMV...

Looking at the images of Nikon's 36 MP and thinking it for a while, I finally realized why Nikon was holding off such a high Mp range.... It's because the results DO not deliver... I think Nikon is finally caving to the public pressure that DSLR has to be high in MP (like 5DMII) in order to fly off the shelf.

But 36 MP of average images... To be filling up your hard drive... Do think again...

6mp from d70 is good enough for me :)

By the time a d800 is in our hands, 32 will be the new 16.

The new 16GB should be 48GB (12.1mp times 3 = 36.3mp), if they ever make one...

32 GB still seems too little...
