i saw some 24mm f1.4 selling in BnS. mostly are selling few weeks after they bought it.

i wonder what is the reason for that since it is such a great lens.

may be because they thought they can get a great picture with a great lens.....

During the purchase they were on flu syrup and bought the wrong lens..

An alternate lens to consider might be the Zeiss 28m F2 , Its very sharp, has excellent bokah, and If you buy it in Nikon mt you can also put it on the Eos 5d Mk2 (with nik/eos adapter of course) ... its only about $1200 US at BHphoto....And Its not a G lens! YEAH!

Just bought the lens. It is the lens that you can use for low light condition(night & indoor, no tripod) and lighter than zoom lens. I would rather sell my zoom lens to fund it.

I think combo 24 1.4 + 70-200VR II will do most of the job.

this is what i think so.. this 2 lenses are quite enough.. with a D3S you can snap in almost any conditions

if you cover events the 24-70 might be more flexible
24mm might be too wide for you sometimes, if you're running on FF

Don't know how easy to switch the crop factor 1x to 1.5x in D700/D3 series?
It will be 24mm and 36mm but you can enjoy benefit of f1.4

its pretty simple with customs function, however you only get marginal resolution for a FF working in Crop mode.

I have a standard zoom lens, i would use 90% at 24mm range and 9% for longest end. This is main reason i consider prime over a zoom. It depends on individual habit.

In addition, this lens can focus in few inches which makes the bokeh looks insane. The same concept as macro lens.

i also like to walk ard with my prime. zoom lens so big, you take out every1 will start staring at you.:bigeyes:

Yes, last time outside of AMK hub, a guide came to stop me from taking photo of my friends. It just s5Pro + 85 1.4. No bag. She said this is private property. I think she wouldn't stop people shoot inside AMK hub with compact camera. This was 3 years ago.
Nowsaday, more people are carrying DSLR. It become norm and less sensitive.
24mm 1.4G is a lens that you won't expect so expensive by it size.

Not talking abt my 70-200, this one take out in town areas might get arrested hahaha, cfm will draw alot attention. Was talking abt my 17-55 with my d90 last time. But i do agreed that 24mm f1.4G is srsly overpriced, am getting a 16-35mmf4 to cover my wa soon.

No choice as Nikon set the price not me. Price for D3s > 200f2 but many people still get D3s instead of 200f2.
I also like the beast 200 f2 but the price can't justify for minor use.
It just like compare 2 door coupe to 4 door saloon. Faster, younger, more expensive but limited usage > Boring 4 door car, slow.
Anyway, every man will addore beautiful 2 door coupe.

The Canon has an equivalent 24mm with a large aperture, and so does the Leica. But the Leica has a 21mm f/1.4 also.
