Nikon admits D810 thermal issues

No. They will send it back to Nikon to be fixed, then Nikon will add the black mark.

We hope that Nikon better improve on their QC of all their camera if not most of the Nikon fan will run alway and switch over to some other brands.
Be fair to those Nikon fan who have put in lot of money on the equipment, git it right Nikon
we just need a simple and nice camera which give us very sharp / very good white balance / very good low light images. Cut cost is another thing your Nikon brand Name and QC of yr camera are more important. Use to be a Nikon Fan but now switch over to Fujifilm X Series camera which also
have good images out from the camera. God bless Nikon for a good future down the road.

Being in the tech industry before this is my personal view. All products comes with defects. The important thing is the company follow up and fix the problems. Every brand very product comes with problems. Fuji, Canon, Olympus, Sony and any other brands all have their fair share of problems in the past, present or future.

Agree.... With technology getting so much more complicated/complex, I reckon nothing is bug-free...
the thermal noise is merely a small issue and a quick fix is all it needs to have it resolved....
going to send in mine soon enough though I have not noticed it albeit is on the affected batch...

Is that really such a big deal?

Ferraris get recalled too...

Is it coincidence that Japanese product once made in Thailand = Not So Good ?

I avoided Toyotas manufactured in the land of smiles and now it has to be Nikon. I have NEVER had issue with made in Japan Nikons ; both the film bodies & D100 , but the D700 & so on are having pre-mature rubber grip peeling off , view finder cracking and so much more.

The old Nikon AF-D lenses made in Japan had problem with the AF-MF ring... but the new ones made in China are ok? D800/D800e also suffered from AF problems in the beginning but they were made in Japan?

Personally I think that MIJ vs MIE(Made in Elsewhere) thinking is crap.

Isn't the D700 made in Japan ?

When we say MIJ, or should we technically meant assembled in Japan. The MIJ products can we say all parts are manufactured in Japan? The electronics, gaskets, plastics, etc? In the globalization of today's world, management and QC of the company culture are playing a more important role.

I thought this is only an issue for those who like to shoot star tail or long exposure for night landscape. People try to make it such a big issue like the D800 left focus shift. All I read in across all the photography forum is this is indeed the best of Nikon camera of the year?

Run where? Every camera company has had issues. Fortunately, Nikon has been more responsive this time round.

Thanks for heads up. I got my D810 adjusted by Nikon sg.
