I think you'll be alright. Imagine those photos you have captured and will be capturing more til this 70-200 f4 comes out. You won't be able to capture them without your 80-200mm right? Besides f2.8 is > f4.0. You can always go to B&S when the 70-200 f4 is release, if you really want to get it. thanks.

Then completed already.

Got f2.8

14-24, 24-70, 70-200

Now got 16-35, 24-120, 70-200

The Holy Trinity > 14-24, 24-70, 70-200 f/2.8

The not so Holy Trinity > 16-35, 24-120, 70-200 f/4

The Primal Trinity > 24, 35, 85 f/1.4

The Holy C##p Trinity > 500, 600, 800 tele's

The Holy Trinity > 14-24, 24-70, 70-200 f/2.8

The not so Holy Trinity > 16-35, 24-120, 70-200 f/4

The Primal Trinity > 24, 35, 85 f/1.4

The Holy C##p Trinity > 500, 600, 800 tele's

The not so holy prime trinity (f/1.8 trinity) - 28mm f1/.8G, 50mm f1/.8G, 85mm f/1.8G :D

Ha ha I support you. This is the right choice for me :)

Will Nikon drop the price of f2.8 once f4 came out?
Does anyone experienced that b4?
Thks.

Not sure if you guys tried before the 70-300 VR. The sharpness of this lens is quite phenomenal for its price in the 70-200mm region and it opens up to f5.3 at 200mm. This f4 lens needs to be much much better than the 70-300VR otherwise I don't see how they can justify selling it at a high price (well maybe they add a full magnesium body) and also it's faster by less than 1 stop only.

Shall see how it perform, but given its one of the least used FL by most people who don't shoot professionally, some serious thoughts need to be done before deciding if it's for you.

No never.... don't wait for that.

Yap...thought so....just to confirmed. Thks.
By the time full review & Users reviews are out, will be early 2013 already...timing just right for me...price oso more or less stable leow....hopefully this does not break the $2K mark.

NEVER. Cos the f/4 is NOT a replacement for the f/2.8 model.

Yap correct, for non profit user like me :)

Depend you want bokeh or more more bokeh on f2.8??

If you want the object pop up and don't see the background too wired and go for 2.8.
If you wanna lightweight and cheaper or multi use then the f4 is suit to you :)
