Nikon 55-300mm VR DX Field Test

I drop in to my fav shop in AMK and the lady with long hair quoted me $410 if I pay by cash. Is the price reasonable? ;p

Don't keep it to yourself please. :nono: Good stuff should be shared :bsmilie:

how come it is very cheap at AMK (20% less) compared to other places who are selling around $480? anything missing?

BTW This is one of the excellent nikon DX lens. VR2 works really great especially at 300mm at night for my shaky hands. pictures are sharppp. you can get very nice bokeh effect if you shoot portrait.. :)

yup tested out in the zoo... great lens to have + budget. Never regret getting this instead of 28-300mm, save me a huge sum of money to uprgrade other lens. But it does hunt badly in low light at 300mm when i shot on a raining monday in the zoo.

Waiting for the shots you took from the zoo :D Maybe you can post some in this thread too and we can have some real-life sample shots!

haf way through editing ahaha stay tune for the link here. bokeh not bad leh :bsmilie:

Is there instant manual focus override for this lens? Or must flip a switch?

nope, no instant overide! so got to switch to manual focusing if you cnt af

From what I've seen of the images posted, for the clarity you can get with this lens wide open, I think the inability to instantly override the focus without toggling a switch is a small trade-off. I've got my eye on this lens now.

for a budget price like that there is bound to have some small sacrifices. But i think the quality of the product it delivers is more impt:bsmilie: BBBBB welcome to the 55-300mm club ahaha:bsmilie:
