As what I know, the shape of the bokeh depend on the number of aperture blade ?

What is quality bokeh ?

Thanks. :)

Aperture blades to control a nice bokeh, but never seem ppls will said your bokeh not up to quality of bokeh.

Even 9 blades when stop down the F and left on half stop aperture blade and shot at the result as half spot of bokeh would be out of quality bokeh?

Ideally silky smooth with a touch of cream? Kekeke

The mysticque of buying a legendary lens... Must read a lot of reviews and hear a lot of opinions.

Don't forget it is the user who breathes magic into the lens.

If you are looking for the lens to breath magic into the user - not going to happen.

Not a 85 1.4 that you can shoot wide open and be amazed by thin dof.

Not a 14mm that you can shoot wide angle and be amazed by the perspective.

Not a 500mm that you can shoot from a mile away and yet feel so close.

Simply a short normal zoom lens and the current best in the market.

If you think it is ordinary. It is probably you.

It is probably you who is the ordinary one.

We are all aware that other factors like FL, distance to subject plays a part in DOF... Maybe hes trying to say that in a certain scenario where these factors are constrain, he "needs f2.8 for bokeh and DOF", then it makes sense. well strictly speaking, bigger aperture should only affect DOF, and not bokeh (as bokeh means the quality of the out of focus areas). Pls correct me if im wrong here, but that has been my understanding all along.

I want to say that, technology is beautiful and it can bring both good and bad. As someone has pointed out, digital has made learning photography possibly much faster/easier/cheaper. technolgy also made clubsnap possible where everyone can share and become a better photographer in 1 way or other. Im thankful that many experienced guys are sharing their knowledge and i myself have learnt a lot in this thread. Lets continue to learn from one another and be nice to all fellow Clubsnappers :) afterall, we are all here for the same purpose to learn :)

I'm not being bad or unfriendly, but I really have no idea what context and what he is driving at. His comments are all one-sided from god-knows-where he gets the ideas as such. Just want to clarify the points and the comments as it goes. No guru myself but definitely no idiot too.

Not perfect myself too, still newbie just learning as I go along.

No need to hear lots of reviews and opinions, but this quite sums it up well.

when i said 'lesser bokeh', i am referring to the 'poorer' quality of bokeh, not 'quantity' as bokeh is unlikely to be subjected to amount etc.

ahhh ok it all makes sense now! :)
