eh i thought you wana buy 70-200vr ???
;p

had a feel of it today... didn't get much of a FEEL as i'd like (watcher shut up!) but how's the light fall off problem? seemed pretty obvious when the chairman of nikon council pointed it out to some of us.

BeachBoy: Dun worry I will update you...

jOhO: If gadrian never pointed it out, I'd never have noticed until I downloaded the image as well, probably due to the DX factor thus slight minor light fall off, maybe at f/4 the light fall off should be gone. The quality looks good apart from that as compared to the 17-35 shots taken by gadrian. The price is good too, $2.2K.

Actually the fall off seems to be very slight, at least not as bad as gadrian's comparison but again I don't have a 17-35 to test side by side. Not sure if it is a batch problem.

You har... feel feel here and there on everybody's lenses, touch here and there... molesting lenses :nono:

The light falloff could be due to it being a first batch kinda thing... Will wait till 6 months later to review again...

Ah yes, more wisdom from the Nikon council then I see?

:bsmilie: Jed, it (Nikon council) started off as a joke! :D . And *I* certainly don't feel wise ;)

In any case, we tried the lens itself and that particular lens had light fall-off, visible from the LCD itself, vs a 17-35. Both manually taken at the same spot, indoors, seconds apart. However, there is no such issue on the web so far, so :dunno: .

That is why I said that I will take a look again some time later. I'm not interested in that lens at all...

Is it something like tasting french wine? If you don't like the taste of 1990 Latour now, wait a couple of years and the taste might improve? ;)

I will take the 1992 vintage.. thanks.. dont like the lingering of the 1990 Latour..

Haha.. Jed.. the Nikon "Council" thingy was just something to "piss" some people off.. but yes.. generally we are a group of Nikonians that meet to discuss the usage of our equipment.. and how to make the best of it..

Also it is a resource where we can borrow or rent equipment from each other.. this would be very beneficial for all the Nikonians around..

Other then that.. we are also very focused on the image creation process.. sharing photographers.. and images.. from digital to film..
