i've made an enquiry from Alan photo tat this lens is currently outta stock. island wide!! (due to nikon limited stock) true? where else is it selling?

Erm, made in Japan, made in China, or even made in Thailand is there any difference? Does being made in China means that the lens is now capable of taking better pictures? Optically speaking, the 50/1.8 is one of the simplest of all lens design, nothing much to go wrong with it, and I would like to have more confidence in Nikon's QC.

I can remember once upon a time when made in Japan was seen as :thumbsd: ... how quickly have perceptions changed...

No lah, I have no prob with China-made lenses. I am just curious that the same lens purchased within a period of a week or two could have different markings... perhaps their import sources are different????

Now, a $80,000 Japanese car not made in Japan also selling like hot cakes, what's the big deal about a $180 lens not made in Japan?
