Nikkor 28-300 vs Tamron 18-270

Also can, the price difference isn't too big.

Just thought the additional zoom from the Tamron is good, and besides, the 18-270 seems to be highly recommended when I did a search on this forum.
I see. I personally havent tried both the Nikkon 18-200 and Tamron 18-270, but i kinda prefer to stick to the Nikkor glasses. :)

If i'm not wrong, at the long end of the Tamron 18-270, at aperture of f/6.3, u'll lose AF capability.

Hmmm, I didn't know about the loss of AF for the Tamron 18-270 at that aperture.

Anyway I just checked the pricing; the prices for both are quite close!

I am also thinking bout getting a walk about lens.. But donno shld get the 18-270 tamron or nikon 28-300 or 18-200..

The Nikon FX lenses will definitely be much more heavier than their DX counterparts.

I've the Nikon 18-200mm VR1 and I had to service it for three straight years and decided to get a replacement walkabout lens.

Like most people here, I do not have an infinite amount of vitamin m and decided on the Nikon 28-300mm to futureproof my purchase when FX is the main stable and DX close shop.

The Nikon 28-300mm has a switch to prevent lens creep.

I've some photos of low light at the SAF Changi Ferry terminal.

May I know u service the lens for what problem?

Hi,

I'm looking for a walkaround lens, and plan to buy either the Nikkor 28-300 or Tamron 18-270 to pair with the Tokina 11-16.

I reckon both the Nikkor and the Tamron are walkaround lenses, so am wondering which one to pair with the Tokina 11-16?

Thoughts?

it shouldn't be vs as these are 2 really different lens. One for ff covering 28-300 and the other 18-270 with an equivalent of 28- 405.

In fact, it is 42-450(28-300) and 28-405(18-270) considering the crop factor.

Logical sense just by looking at the focal length, Tamron 18-270 with Tokina 11-16.
Other option probably Nikkor 28-300 with Nikkor 10-24.

Initially I had thought that the Nikkor 28-300 was for DX.

Looks like my choices are Nikkor 18-200 or Tamron 18-270 for general walking around (and be my main lens). I'm leaning towards the Tamron to use as my main but have concerns since there are some who say its AF is slow.

Also the other set will be Sigma 8-16 vs Tokina 11-16, for taking indoor pictures and for, I imagine, taking pictures of the Colosseum and outside of churches. Was favouring the Tokina for the 2.8, but I've been advised that 2.8 isn't really good enough for indoors as well.

Sigh.

I think that Nikon release a Nikkor 28-300 probably for the users of dx body who might like to upgrade to a fx body and still have a similar zoom of the 18-200 in a dx body.

You probably would like to check Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical Field Test by Ortega review.

Thanks for the link.

I'd read that thread and it caused me to really consider the Tamron :)

Let me know if you find it slow to autofocus?
