Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8

What do you mean by front/back focus?

it means that the part of the photo in focus is a little in front or behind the actual place you focused...
this can be very troublesome if you need to use the f/2.8 very often and keep getting photos which are off-focus because of front/back focusing

btw seniors, anyone of you experience flare issues esp shooting at night when street lamps are in your photo?

You mean "ghosting"? The Nano coating negotiates it a bit but can't eliminate it totally... Sometimes, the screw-on filter is responsible for the ghosting so removing it may help.

Would it be tiring if lug the D700 + 24-70mm + SB900 speedlite on neck to shoot a wedding dinner for 3 hours?

if my customer trusted in me to take the once in a life time picture for them, i think its worth it.

Although tired, but as a photographer, what we are after are nice and beautiful shots. If this combination can produce good results and we can afford, y not?

I am thinking of getting a new lens - Nikkor 24+70mm f2.8.... anyone using it? or anyone can give a review on it...

If you can afford it, can take the weight of it, than go for it, its a good lens.

i'm using this lens for 2 months on my D90 and conclusion is - AF fast and sharp always. Previously I'm using Tammy 28-75 f/2.8 and have since sold it after getting this nikkor lens. You wont regret after seeing the photos taken with this lens. Only issue to consider is the weight, you need to try with your camera gear 1st before make a final decision. Agreed with uranium2k that this lens is more versatile...

But you have to look at the value for $$ the Tammy gives . The NIKON 24-70 is at 4 times the price of the Tammy 28-75 . So actually for the price it is really a good lens .
