I'm tied between these 2 cameras. Need some advise from the bros here.
Both almost having the same similar price range and except 550D have more features.
But D90 have a better grip feel.

Need some advise here.

They are both equality as good, so you should test them out and see which one feels better for you. another point to take note is that 550D is still relatively new but D90 is going to be replaced by a newer model soon. But its still a very good camera and the final decision is up to you.

equally* sorry

if you're big on video, d90's is nothing to crow about. but i don't know what 500d's like.

A quick recommendation is D90, you already said the grip feels better.

550D has more features? No not true leh. Both can record movies and take photos.

yea agreed. If both are equally good, den it really boils down to the feel.

must depend the user prefer which brand the interface

ya.. D90 is 2 yrs old model while 550D stills new. both also value for money.
Hard to decide which is.

Had the same problem when i was first deciding on which to get. Went through alot of reviews and spent hours researching. So was thinking why not share these research with you.

D90:
1) Better noise reduction, allowing you to pump up to higher ISOs
2) Two dials, allowing you to adjust shutter speed and aperture at the same time in M mode
3) Lower megapixel
4) More realistic colours
5) Point focus allows you to select the point of interest
6) Lesser range of lens for selection

EOS 550D:
1) Higher megapixel (though a little overpowering for the 550D sensor, resulting in slightly more noise had high ISO)
2) Access to the large range of Cannon + 3rd Party lenses
3) Newer model=longer lasting 2nd hand market value
4) Richer Colours
5) Point focus will only focus on the centre

As you can see, both have their pros and cons. Went for the Nikon in the end due to my nature of phototaking (high ISOs).

Best way to decide, go down to the shop and try!!!

erm, for the focus... you can actually use live view to adjust your focus point.
but i think can only be used in certain modes.

if i were you, i would buy 550D. better video resolution as D90 only has 720p. 550D has a better noise performance even at ISO6400. The colour tone for both camera is comparable to each other, but personally i feel that 550D has a better vibrancy.

try equipping your 550D with a battery grip for a better "feel". the build quality seems low for 550D but definitely not whatever high tech stuff inside of it.

all in all, 550D might be the best all rounder mid-class camera to date. (IMHO)

Hi, 550D is a better choice as it has new technologies and have a look at its thread here so that
you will know which lenses to go with for IQ.

550 mounts with heavier lens will feel off balance.
