thank you for the kind comments. :)

Last shot.

This is of an old lady cooking Vietnam-style carrot cake in one of the backlanes of Ho Chi Minh City. I still remember squatting/sitting on the stool at the roadside and enjoying this dish with my friends. :)

Wonderful series WK!

Too bad it is the end of the series and had enjoyed it alot...thank you for sharing..

Good work as always..Cheers..

I've only just stumbled upon this thread, which is a good thing 'cos I get to look through all the photos at once! Haha.. A really nice series - your landscapes are fantastic as usual! And as many have mentioned, I didn't know there were sand dunes in Vietnam - I loved all your sand dune photos in color! Looks like Mui Ne would be on my 'to-go' list whenever I get to visit Vietnam :) Thanks for sharing!

Realised one thing....issit only women work in vietnam?

by the way nice series you've got there. :)

Nice series. Enjoyed it.

An alternative view on this shot (no.6); Have you considered cropping the sky and focusing on the stark contrast of the rocks and the water?

Nice series captured!

No Vietcon pictures???? :bsmilie: Just kiddin! :bsmilie:

please post pictures if you go.

i hope to revisit mui ne one day. it is a very nice place, not just the landscapes.. but the feel and the food.. :) the ang mohs in naturescapes were quite amusing, they said that they thought vietnam was only jungle based on what they see in war movies.. :bsmilie:
wow. beautiful series!
thanks!

hrm, not really, i guess it just happened that i only shot women..

come to think of it, i didn't see many men in the fishing village, and for the market, most of them weren't working.. LOL..
Nice series. Enjoyed it.

mmm, yes, that might work too. :)

i do like having the horizon though, for wider shots.
Nice series captured!

thanks!

thankfully no! :)

Nice shots!

Did you have to use ND filter for some of these shots? Otherwise with the light from sunrise, how to do long exposure to get the foamy water?

Sunrise at Mui Ne Beach.

thanks dmajor..

i used nd110 for many of these shots. for example, the first bnw series were all taken around early morning to noontime.. :) (i think 10 am)

#1-#9, #23, #24 all used the nd110, 10 stops supposedly, but i think it's more of a 11 stop nd filter.

Awesome photos!!!

I am heading there later on in the year, have gotten myself a new D90 recently, which came along with a 3 fold tripod...bought a UV filter too... any tips on what more/what less to bring along to shoot?

Am really looking forward to the trip, firstly because of your awesome photos that exemplify the beauty of that place, and also cause a portion of my trip there to Cambodia/Vietnam will signify my virgin journey alone in a foreign country, purely just to allow me to shoot more (:

hrm, not really, i brought:
10-20, 18-55 (ir), 50, 70-300, i used all.. that's pretty much everything from 10-300 covered distinctively.

you might want to grab some nd filters if you are competent in exposure matters.. along with a gnd filter.

other than that, just compose well, and that should be fine.

have fun on the trip! it's your first time abroad, vietnam is a good choice, i miss the place sometimes.. must head back there again someday.
