also, to make the bokeh balls as round as possible, you should open up the aperture to widest.
And if it is not, it will be pentagon/hexagon? I always thought it is the other way round. lucky I read this now.
BTW, not sure you are having exam fever, if you have a chance to re-take this shot, with bokeh, but also with motion blur for the eye? i think it will be interesting.

i think so, it depends on the number of blades on the lens, something like that.

I like the angle, inclusion of the road/urban elements, the juxtaposition of the new/urban foreground and the old/medieval architecture in the bg. The lighted buildings in the bg is beautiful, some parts of the buildings appears to be in silhouettes though making the buildings on the whole look slighty weird/unnatural? There are 2 red lines crossing over the building near the center of the composition which I find quite distracting. The clock on the tower looks overexposed, I thought that if might work better if the details on the clock pop out more, thereby relating more to the title, perhaps?

i'm not sure why exactly that block of building is unlit sometimes, but i'm sure there's a reason for it, that is why it is in silhouette.
anyways, the lines are from a bus :bsmilie: i wanted to catch a shot with the lines starting right from the lamppost, but gave up after a while; tried without after that, the traffic is still too heavy at that time, along with the numerous tourists that walk into your picture (10mm perspective).. but i will try a reshoot sometime.
i agree about the clock. did not notice that it was overexposed until i got home, even thoguh i had taken 2 shots to combine together via layering. one exposing for the houses of parliament, one exposing for the road.

Just curious, is this a famous palace from London, a tourist kinda place?
2 shots to combine together via layering: I'm a layman regarding ps, care to share how to do this briefly, or link to a useful tutorial? Can this just be done via opening 2 layers (2 exposures) and changing the blending mode of the layers to overlay?

yes, it is houses of parliament, that big clock is the big ben.. :bsmilie:
i just take two shots, and then paste on top, erase to reveal the details accordingly. as for blending mode, i keep it as normal.
the trouble is making sure that the erasing is done properly. it takes time, but after some practice it gets easier and easier.
