hey bro, how do you create the star burst effect from the sun, I've tried so many times but never able to acheive something similar to yours... is it due the the lens? number of blades? everytime I try to take a picture facing the sun, I always have this star burst effect on my mind but never able to achieve:bsmilie:

hey bro,

you need a high f-stop. also, the source has to be concentrated. for example here, the sun in the sky before reflection is actually already partially blocked by trees. if you have tried to take photos of a big torchlight head on compared to lampposts in a wide angle you'll understand what i mean.

you need to turn the sun into a point source of light, and you cannot do this all the time. if there are no trees, then you need the clouds to be right and just obscure it. hope this helps.

:think: ya, tried obscuring with trees using high f-stop and what I get is usually a multiple edged round burst(don't look like a star):bsmilie: never gotten something like a 6-star burst like the one in your picture...

ah, you get something la.

might be due to lens. do you get the same thing when photographing lampposts at night with wide angle? if so, then it has to do with the lens aperture blades.. can go google on it. if i'm not wrong, the more blades you have, then your starburst will become "rounder" with a lot more star points.
