Night Test Shot with Nikon D5000 @ Marina Barrage

Hi,

I use Auto White Balance for all my photos. Why not post your photos here and let us see why is the sky shown yellow and orange rather than dark. :)

Thank you for your advise.

I can't post my photo, the icon of insert image always show me to http:, i only can paste my flicker or picasa address.

Hi there zola70:

Your shots were amazing! I am newbie to DSLR and just received my d5000 last week with 18-105mm VR and 70-300mm VR. I am hoping that someday i can produce a great shots like u did. Any information you can share with me? like tips/tricks for a newbie like me :)

thanks also for posting all EXIF, i will try to copy that settings and start shooting. is it okay to ask you or pm you for any improvements on my shots? one of the post here in the thread, you advised to set the sharpness of the camera to +1 or +2, in your camera settings, are you using +1 or +2?

One last thing, i read a lot of forums, blogs that when shooting landscape F16 is a good starting point, i shoot one scene with F16 and one for F22 (same scene), it seems i can't find the difference, what can u say about that?

Any help, ideas and information would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Hi,

Thanks for viewing & your comment. Congratulation to your new purchase of your D5000 & the 2 lenses. There are no tips & tricks for shooting those night landscape photos, all you need is practice made perfect. Just follow my EXIF settings you won't go wrong.

For sharpness I always set to +2 in the camera in landscape mode.

If you were to ask me I don't see any different between shooting at F16 & F22. For night landscape I usually shoot at a range from F8 to F11, which I think it's good enough for sharpness. I would use F16 for fireworks shooting.

My advise, the more you shoot the better image you'll get. :)

Hi, I've had the Nikon D-5000 for a few months now and I'm having trouble with night photography, the Moon in particular. Either I get a good Moon shot with a really dark back-round or beautiful backround with a loud glow of the Moon losing all of it's details. Do you have any Tips?

whoa! your shot is very impressive... the angle, composition and everything... nice work my friend.

Thanks, I really like the night shots that you took, the lights were amazing. How long have you been doing Photography?

Hi, thanks for viewing & your comment. I'm only in photography for about 8-9 years back. :)

Looking at your 2 shots of the moon, just wonder what lens are you using & what settings (I mean aperture, shutter speed & ISO)? If you really wants to take mainly just the moon shots then I guess you need a zoom lens at least 300mm & above.

Here is one example of the moon shot which I took in 2008 with my D200 & Sigma 70-300mm lens.

Wow!! Holy Moon! Ultimately I think that you're right. Now as far as what setting I've been using, I've just been exploring all of the camera modes, having a little trouble with comprehension of the " P, S, A, M; modes. The Lens I've been using (AF-s Nikkor 18-55mm) I've also been exploring with the "Lens Baby, MUSE".
