Night shot of CBD

Ok i need some constructive feedback and comment on how to improve this shot and the second 1. Thanks

I think it's too dark. 1sec not enough.
 

1st pic dosent look sharp enuff.. maybe its becos the lights frm the buildings are not bright enuff. try exposing them longer.
and i dun really like the buildings being 'chopped' into half.

too much of the river. maybe 1/3 frame river, 2/3 buildings and sky.


2nd pic is ok. but can be better if frame it with more of the road. 1/3 sky, 2/3 roads maybe.
or can try portrait orientation.
 

Are you using a filter?

The star effect on the lights looks more distracting than helpful IMO.
 

Ok noted. The first shot was about 6sec

The problem with the 1st image is not how long you exposed but the timing you made the shot. There's no ambient light to define the details in the buildings, you end up capturing floating lights. Best time for night landscapes is around 7-7:30 at this time of the year, not when the sky is completely dark.
