thanks! remember to post your photos after you have taken tonight

Kohanson: nice pix 6 & 9.

Hi Kohanson,
Thank for collect my link.
In that day having strong wind. My tripod is freebies. Thank for the useful comment. I very appreciate. If compare to your photo my photo look not sharpe.
Maybe due to my sharpess only set at +5 and aperture only <f10 so make the photo not clear as you. Yes, I using Tungsten for the Jetty. I like tungsten color becoz it give the cool night view.
Next time will try again with using the user define setting for sharpness +7, contrast +1 and manual mode.

I using Picasa to upload the photo. 3 option to choose. I choosed the recommendation for sharing & printing. Not sure it will reduce the photo quality. But after go thru the pic after posting on the web it look different from my PC. The original file look more clear and sharp.

How you resize & upload your photo? Can see after you post into web still look nicer. ;-)

Again thank friend...

IMHO, I don't think the sharpness/manual mode are the reasons for your picture quality. I think in order to improve the quality, you can look into these areas:

a. Make sure you have a steady tripod. It is a MUST for good night photography. I think your second shot is affected by the free tripod which is not steady enough under strong wind.

b. Make sure the IS is off, I can see you have done that.

c. Use release cable. If you don't have, set 2 sec delay.

d. In conjunction to (c), enable the mirror lockup.

e. Use Av mode. F number can be 8 to 16. Set ISO to 100, let the camera decide the shutter speed.

These should help. Have fun.

I totally love your photos.
Awesome capture, lightings and the sharpness just blew me away :)
I've yet to shoot any night scenes as yet but after seeing your collections, it really make me wanna try it out soon.
Keep on the great work

I like this very much, thanks for sharing.:thumbsup:

Hi,

All of ur shots are using 15-85mm?? What about ur 50mm F1.8? I just bought a new 50mm so wanted to try out night scenery as well too..

Any advise on that?

Tks

Hi TS, I like your composition, exposure and the colours in your pics, but the overly sharpened pictures are not to my liking. Too unrealistic. There's a difference between lens sharpness and sharpness in PP.
Anyway, I think sharpness is overrated.

You should watch out for horizon tilt. I noticed it in varying degrees in pics #1 - #5.
Make use of a spirit level, or use the gridlines in your viewfinder to align your horizon if possible.

Yes, most of the pictures are taken at 15mm wide open. 50mm prime is usually used for taking portrait pictures.

Hi ZerocoolAstra, thanks for the comments. I will take note of that. Yah, some of the pictures are oversharpen and for the horizon, I also not very sure about where it is :bsmilie:

look at the buildings.... most of them are tilted to one side...
