Michigan isn't exactly scenic, especially near Detroit.
You might want to visit the Henry Ford museum in Dearborn, though and there is an Apple store in Novi, I believe.
Windsor, Ontario could be better but the last time I was there, it looked as awful as Detroit.
There are sand dunes in northern Indiana, the state just below Michigan, which are quite a contrast to the corn and soybean fields further south in the state. Also, there are a group of Amish there--people who live without modern conveniences.
If I remember correcly, the scenery around the Great Lakes should be great. Go around Lake Michigan. Just drive along and stop along the way, should be nice. I was there many many years back in early spring. You probably cannot cover the entire lake in one day. At some point of time, you would need to turn around and head back to the city
It is October now. Probably the fall colors are gone already, but still should be nice.
