Set your peaking mode to low, medium or high.
Set your peaking mode color. - RED perhaps.
turn off manual assist, try manual focus a subject.
red highlights will indicate where the image is sharp.
Easy as 123! =D

erm, if your departure is in the am, then I suggest you go to Challenger now to try your luck.
If your departure in the pm, then you can try getting from MS Color at AMK
enjoying the peaking feature, but just felt that I shd post disclaimer that if u are uncomfy with running firmware update from jap website, then wait for the Sg one to update.
If I encounter any prob, will post here. But so far so good
sorry for sounding noob (I am a newbie at photography), but what does the peaking feature do? Am still experimenting with my NEX 5 and all help/advice are welcome.

Me also newbie. Peaking is used for manual focus. When your subject is in focus, there will be outline of RED/WHITE/YELLOW (based on what is the peak colour you choose on the setting). This help you to manual focus faster when you adjusting the focus ring.
It's very useful for the ppl who are unhappy with NEX kit lenses like me.
So when we're using different brand of lens or legacy lens (zeiss, takumar, leica etc) the auto focus won't work in NEX body, hence it'll be manual focus.
in that kinda case, the peaking is very2 useful to achieve the AF. Before this feature came up, we can only use MF assist.
So if you're only using NEX lenses, just off the peaking mode
Thanks for the heads up. Am still fiddling around with the kit lenses.. Wondering if I should get an adaptor and play with other lenses.. so right now all the mounts are not able to support auto focus? NEX only can read e-mount, and a-mount (but what I heard the AF is very2 slow). you can try other lenses with adapter. But bear in mind, use the lens with aperture ring, otherwise you can't play aperture (as you can't control aperture from NEX body too).

Back to the topic, how come some of the functions in the youtube video is not found in the firmware upgrade? or are those new functions solely for the new cam?

do i get those functions too after i update the v4 on my nex 5? oh apparently many are asking this question too..
SO if i only use AF..the peaking is useless for me? peaking is only for MF huh..
