NEX-5 + Voigtlander Nokton 40/1.4

I understand the standard price for this amazing lens. but why do you need to buy such an expensive adapter? Is there any specialty? I thought can get adapter for $30-50?
Sorry noob with 3rd party lens here. might want to get M42 or M lens for my NEX too...

I personally prefer the built quality of the Voigtlander VM adapter (Made in Japan). Take a look at Chiif Cameras and you would probably appreciate what I meant.

Hmm... I thought all this time adapter is for connecting the lens to body only. since no chip (AF confirm) technology for NEX yet. Is it affecting the image?

Hi Jeff, i think we met that day at Chiif's place, when you considering to get the Silver or the Black Adapter, or 35mm SC or 40mm MC :).. Nice Shots!! I hope you re not regretting with the build of VC adapter :)

Cheers!!!

Hi bro, good to see you here. Thanks for the advice that day. No regret at all with both the Nokton 40/1.4 and Voigtlander VM adapter. They are almost permanently mounted on my NEX-5 now. :)

Good to see you too, I am Fred btw...i see you didnt get the B+W filter yet? Thinking to get the Hood too? (hahaha just personal preference to have a hood on the lens).

Well, hope you'll be joining the Rangefinder user group too. ;) Cheers

You can get cheap M to NEX adaptor at eBay for merely SGD 30.

The built quality is different. You can try out RJ adapters and VM ones at Chiif. See and feel the difference in the make.

If you want cheap adapters and hood, go to HongKong, Kowloon, SIM city building. It's like camera heaven. Plus you can try them out.

The RJ adapter are good enough. Bought them at Chiff as well. Using it with my Nokton 40/1.4 as well.

End of the day, its just a mechanism to mount the lens onto the Nex. Of course if , budget is not a concern, might as well get the same brand accessory lol

The Nokton 40/1.4 looks great on the NEX-5

Remember to get lens with the adapter too! Hehehe.

Search on flickr for the pictures taken with this combination to decide.

Agreed with you on this one. I'm also using a Voigtlander adapter for my NEX-5 but for F-mount lenses. Personally, I find that the built quality of the Voigtlander adapter is better than the RJ adapter.

Yes. I agree with u. I tried before the VC adaptor. Quality cannot fight.

You can't compare a $30 adaptor with a VC adaptor mah. The $30 adaptor is another alternative for those wanted to try out M lenses but not prepared to pump so much on the adaptor.

Jeff, is the nokton 40 a fixed focul length lens?
