Nex 5 images

Don't worry . We are always happy to share a fellow user joy in using the nex5n. Cheers

Er.....I believe that he is using the nex-5 instead of nex5n

Bro, he shot those with the older Nex 5 and not the 5N, goes to show that it's the photographer and not the camera that makes great pictures.

btw, ...Great photos!

Hi nsalman, this thread is created to allow NEX-5 owners to share their photos so don't worry or had the wrong impression of spamming this thread.

Thank you, thank you. I still got more lenses coming based on some bros recommendations. I am now out almost daily with the camera and veering off the usual track provided me with some needed exercise.

Slim-ing

This is a shot of mil. Using a MD 50mm f2.0. At 4.0 I know it can be sharper but I really love the expression, the colours and the light.

Nice expression captured there. Anyway, a good photo doesn't necessary had to be sharp. Often I need to reduce the clarity of a photo.

Really? Hmm, do you have samples to show? I sense a very learnable moment here.

I agree with snowc, ...a really good photo may not necessary be sharp but it'll will give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside, sometimes it can really stir up your emotions.

...which is why photography can be a very subjective topic.

Yes, I like what you said. I tend to agree.

Another one, this one from a long unused vivitar series 1 105mm macro.

As Ghostfit had mentioned, a really good photo may not necessary be sharp but it can really stir up your emotions. I share his views as I believe that there are other elements to a photo than just detail, detail and more detail.

So far, I had yet to produce an image which will give my viewer a feel. My interest lies mostly in macro, still life & abstract and sometimes, i will reduce the clarity of an image to create a dreamy appearance. Below is an example with clarity and sharpness reduced.

Yup ! yup ! ...I try my best to use softness and create the mood/feelings in my photos, but sometimes out of spite, I'll grab my Carl Zeiss, turn on the HDR and POKE their EYES out !!! :bsmilie:

So sorry but when you turn on the HDR, turn it on where? On ps?

You mean on-camera? In the first menu on the second row. The "colors/brightness"sub-menu

On the 5N, you've got 2 choices:

1) DRO/HDR selection - Selecting HDR here will switch off DRO, you've got 6 levels of HDR processing strength, using too high a level will squash the image and makes the photo look "flat". This is more for capturing photos with higher dynamic range than normal.

2) Photo effects mode - You got 3 levels of HDR processing here (Low, Mid and High) the camera in this mode processes the data differently from the mode above, the HDR effects are more distinctive and doesn't squashes the images. I like this mode, it gives a look like you've spent hrs on the PC with PS to achieve it.

Seems to make the pictures look more like paintings than photographs though. Personally, I think the effects are too strong for me. :P

Yup, HDR is something you either love or hate ! :bsmilie:
It is just another photo effect for a certain kind of look, eg: Sepia, B/W, Lomo, retro, etc.

As I've mentioned earlier, HDR is something I'll use when (in a Arty Farty mood) I wanna poke people's eyes out !;)

Ouch ! ...my eyes are hurting !

I am also guilty of using the picture effects of Nex3. Just thought it's quite fun. :embrass:
