Hi all, i have just bought a NEX5 recently. My camera takes 3 full secs to start up. Is it a norm? I also encounter problem shooting as it states 'cannot recognise lens,attached it properly'. Im quite sure its attached properly with a click sound. Anything else i should look out for? Appreciate reply from members here. Thanks!

taking a while to set up is quite normal... i was quite surprised at the slow start up time at first, but u will get used to it...
as for the lens issue, not quite sure why... try again ? if not gotta bring back loh...

Thanks for the reply. I've replaced my faulty set. The new set start up in about only 1 sec.

Previously, i was decided to get NEX 5 ... but end up i go for Canon 60D. After check thru sony review, the IQ not so good. Since E-mount still new in the market and do not hv many lens yet. Getting some info said that the upcoming/new lens will be delay again till next year 2012.
If more lens come out, i can get one for my wife with NEX-C3. They body is more nicer than NEX-3

2nd hand Nex-5s can cost you from $700+ onwards, depending on condition.
But Nex C-3 now out, unless you die die want full-HD video recording, if not Nex C-3 apparently has a better sensor.

I realised that most of the pics taken in this thread "play cheat" leh.... so many ppl using non E-mount lenses are as the carl zeiss, nikon, voightlander etc... only a few posted pics tat are taken by official E-mount lenses.
Perhaps, we can start posting more pics that are taken by the current E-mount lenses instead? i.e. the 16mm, the 18-55mm and 18-200mm, so that forumers could know how well the nex-5 (the E-mount system) performs.

Actually, there are lots of e-mt lens shots in this thread. I just clicked at random at page 15 and a whole page of kit lens pics are out.
What do you mean by 'play cheat'? you can inadvertently piss off a lot of pple here, cuz there are some who have almost totally moved to legacy lens already. You are not implying there's anything wrong rite? :think:

forgive me la, i am just a newbie who likes toying with my junks such as 1d4, 5d2, 500f4, 85f1.2, 24f1.4, 50f1.2, 100f2.8IS, then somehow i got sick of these list of cheapo junks now, then i start to embark on sony now to toy with the nex-5, so thats why i sprout rubbish here in this forum. And oh... i joined the forum more than 4yrs before you, maybe 4yrs is still too little and inexperienced for me due to my low post counts hmph...
i am sick of all the images captured by the lousy canon L lenses such as 500f4, 85f1.2, 24f1.4, 50f1.2, so i start on the sony nex-5, and i came to this thread in hope i can see images taken by the native nex-5 e-mount system, only to realise a lot of pics taken by non e-mount lenses. pardon my newbie perspective la, since u have 700+ posts, more pro than me..
