Based on DPR article on the A7r/A7s/5DIII comparisons, I certainly did not see any leap in ISO performance compared to the A7r and 5DIII images downsampled.
And in fact, those were just generic processing of the files, so with better NR and sharpening before downsampling, the difference can be even less.

The A7s focussing in low light is outstanding, focusses on things that I cannot even see with my eyes. And this was with the FE55 which does not perform well on the A7 and A7r. I will try whatever M mount lenses I have left on the weekend.
Now this would be the reason to get the a7s. Good lowlight AF.

Focusing speed remains roughly the same. From infinity to MFD, I could not detect any clear advantage of the a7S. In terms of low-light focusing, tried some indoor shots under challenging conditions, still very much a hit and miss affair switching between the a7S and the a7R. Did not test focusing under complete darkness, or where I have difficulty seeing what I am shooting.

Given its 'only' 12MP, I feel they should price it below the A6000. FF for the masses!!!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
ya i agree on that!
don't mind a dumbed down non 4K capable A7N, N for newbie like us. I do like the per pixel image quality from the big fat 12 megapixels, reminds me of the original 5D!
Is that a new zoom lens?
