[News} Sony’s a7S Full-Frame Camera Realises a New World of Imaging Expression

Played with the A7s yesterday. Very impressive ISO performance. With a price almost similar to the A7r, I would definitely pick the A7s over the A7r.

I will buy both. They are for different reasons la. Lol

Hope one day sony wld give us A7r+s with high fps

Match that with a Audi A8.
If the A8 appears , I might be tempted enough to come back Sony :) Assuming its A7 with Audi A8 speed.

Saw and finally tried the RX100iii today , really performance in a sleek compact package.

So which camp(s) are u in now?

MFT and X-mount :) these 2 complement each other.

Sony side I tried the RX100ii and Nex system long ago but I don't think I'm ready for Sony yet , hence still waiting to return :) the RX1 is still one of the best cameras I've used though , I like it even more than the A7.

RX1/R definitely beats the A7/R in terms of IQ as both the sensor and the lens are perfectly made to pair each other for the optimum performance. If u need a full frame 35mm lens and cam combo for street, this is the one to get.

I think how well the RX1/Rs have held their used value in BnS bears testament to how good they still are in spite of some flaws (both perceived and real).

If Sony do something similar like Fuji (tele TCL-X100 + wide WCL-X100 adapter for X100s) for RX1/2 ...that would be really nice.

Tele + Wide + close focus ..wah best.

Good idea sia , drools ...

Except Sony don't have time to do that. Look at the Zeiss lenses they produced for A7 system. To me nothing exciting compared to those relatively cheap and great Oly primes or Fuji primes (despite so call slow focusing). for me the RX1 series is already a classic, a camera that define what is possible in a small package.

a7S on sale now.

I picked up the a7R. Started to play with it, especially the focusing. Seems like there is no difference from the a7R.

really no difference from A7R on focusing? I daytime maybe no diff but low light should be improved?

I was trying it out in the Sony preview event at orchard 313, and seems to lock on much more confidently in lowlight compared to the A7.

Based on DPR article on the A7r/A7s/5DIII comparisons, I certainly did not see any leap in ISO performance compared to the A7r and 5DIII images downsampled.
And in fact, those were just generic processing of the files, so with better NR and sharpening before downsampling, the difference can be even less.
