[ News ] : Olympus develops compact camera with Zuiko lens

update...

wont be that appealing, unless it's priced like S$400 or something... hehehe
Make sense. 4/3 sized sensor is reserved for 4/3 and m4/3 while the premium compact compete in 1/1.6" sized sensor market.

I don't think we are able to get a premium compact at $400+ :( It will be more likely to be in the $600-$700 range if you look at the price of LX5.

Wah! But f2 lei, how come still got SG, HG and SHG? SG= 2.8, HG= 2 and SHG= super sharp f2? :bsmilie:

I am getting the Fuji X100 for sure. But hope that the Olympus offering will be good.

Spidey : Different grade of lens, different price mah.

True,true... Fuji X100... Brings back memories for you? ;)

I think we should expect this camera to be close to the price of the E-PL1 at least if they are using a 4/3 sensor.

There were also rumors of a Panasonic equivalent, though.

I would've paid EPL1 prices for 4/3-sensored compact.

Oh well, i guess that's out of the window now.

(... the modular camera better be bloody good...)

I agree about the modular camera, hahaha

it would be a great bonus if it is engineered into the tough series line. No harm dreaming, right? :bsmilie:

We can only hope bro, we can only hope.

I was hoping that Olympus would launch something like the Fuji X100, or maybe a 35 SP looking compact.:dunno:

Yes, it's a beauty, my only one reluctance is that it has a Fuji lens, which is normally very good, but I prefer something else if possible (no hesitation at all with their film though), so we shall see how it fares, Fuji lenses may have evolved. Hope they make an interchangeable lens version, since the groundwork is already done. Doubtful though, as their history is mostly about fixed lenses.

Hope Olympus can make the OM-4ti digital version  ... maybe after 5 years ?

Well... The current PENs are more or less the same size as that of the OM cameras, who knows? That might be the pro pen afterall

Well, he is old enough to be my father, so why not an uncle? :bsmilie:

I'm old enough to be microcosm's father, so what does that make me? (macrocosm?) :bsmilie:

I was looking at a number of review summaries for Olympus point-and-shoot cameras and I'm surprised how bad they are and each replacement model seems to copy the old model without improvement. Now, I wonder if the whole company is just clueless. :(

I hope they start doing things well. They must change.
