[ NEWS ] - official response from olympus

I get the feeling that the Olympus workers who are enthusiastic about photography operate their E-system cameras the way I do--like an OM-series camera. They don't use auto focus and only use up to ISO 400. They just like the E-system for the lack of film and dust. :bsmilie:

hehehe mine was SF-MF mode all the time :) and also used ISO400 max ISO800 on my E620

altho honestly speaking, if i am a 1st time dslr buyer now, i wun consider e620..
dunno how to see in what way the zuiko glass is better, but can see that the other systems has better higher iso performance that i'll can do with..

Will this help? I really would like to own this lens. The 14-35mm F2.
I think I'm willing to give up high-ISO for this lens even though it is
important too. :)

You can download the full-res pictures too.

Oly should stop doing such press releases unless they have a good new for E-XXX users

look what happen to me:cry: lost and confused

I agree with you bro! E-5 is not for everyone I still like the form factor of E620...... if this series is no longer has future... a lot of these users will be forced to move camp I bet few would want to go up E5 or go m4/3.... also m4/3 lens are more expenssive than 4/3 lenses :)

same feeling i had

Long story cut short, they're not forcing you, its a choice in the end, if you're not happy with what you have or where the company is heading, move on,cameras will change, photographers do not, as what Olympus said, in the future, DSLRs will be mirror-less, think about it, the first mirror-less cameras were from Panasonic, then Olympus, Samsung and Sony jumped in with their own NX and NEX series, rumors floating about Canon and Nikon making their own version, who's to say that they will phase out their DSLRs as well?

True that its pretty risky to do it this way, but eventually you'll have to do it. As said many times before,I'll repeat it again, shoot more and share, most people here are enthusiasts, E-5 is most definitely not a need for them or even a want, but the m4/3s and other mirror-less platforms are good in their own way, true that they're slow, but as I've said many times, technology improves very quickly, those in IT line will surely understand it, and eventually, the mirror-less cameras will catch up to the DSLRs in performance. So whatever the camera is, most important is that we still get the images we want.

The reason why I keep on saying this is because I really like Oly lenses and the IQ of thier cam I am not asking for them to match what Sony A33/A55 features but atleast do something about it.

I've been playing with A33 for few days now and only thing I can say "I wish my E620 come close to Sony AF speed then i'm good to go" I could live without HD video Geo Tagging (GPS) fast 10/7 FRS and in body HDR processing and multiple ISO in body processing and sweep panorama and the killer EVF :) Image wise the lens I am using 18-250 can't beat 14-54 hands down this where Oly lens shines.

But here's a bummer from my wife, she said "Oly pictures are good but Sony AF is fast, I still remember when you took our photos using your Oly our jaws are getting stiff from smiling while your cam still focusing"

If you ask me personally I dont want to move on....

PS I'm in the IT sector also :) thats why I am really sad how Oly moves about thier technology others are leaping Oly took the slow crawl....

No system is perfect. If there is one, the other companies can close shop and go home. Pick what you like and work around it's foibles. Is the E-620 showing it's age so much that you die die must upgrade?

I use up to ISO1600 on my E-620. even shot ISO2000 on some sporting events. noise is manageable and dont really show up in prints. but you will need some post processing to get better exposure/contrast/DR

if you look at some sports magazines, you will see some noise/grainy images but were still used by the editors and does not bother the readers. only on photography magazines do i see super clean images of action shots. but on real-life situations, i dont think ordinary people will even notice that

if AF is an issue yet you still like the E-system, maybe you should consider the E-30. focuses faster than E-620, though slightly larger, but it will balance better on larger lenses like the 12-60mm. it's now only selling around $1k, not a bad price if you ask me, i'm actually considering it

No bro my E620 is not yet aging but Af is really an issue to me I tried to go around it but there are times using Af I've lost some moments with family :( but using E620 on a bright areas is no problem just some problem indoors or during events....

I like the form factor of E620 not too big not too small just nice for me :) and not that heavy also :). E30 is good but if I get it might aswell get E5 :D right? but then again budget budget and budget that's why the E-XXX is bang for your bucks just hope they'll continue that system I really do...

im afraid this is not the lens for me..
i havent the ability (photographically nor financially) to bring out the qualities it possesses..
i like super macro, and i like ultra wide, and the occasional tele..

however, IF it can be had in a firesale, i think i mite fight u for it... :bsmilie:

anyway, just curious and a bit OT, are you shooting with your CPL on your A33?

Missus given me the thumbs up to get a new DSLR now seriously considering other brands for my next DSLR.....

If buying new and switching system may I suggest either the Nikon D700 or the Canon 5D MkII. Look at the lenses, filter size of each lens, f-stop, system price and decide. YMMV of course.
