[ News ] GX7 is available for sale in Singapore

Im sorry..my" 4s" is subjective..but I do find definite lag compared to my canon 60d

na, no worries. I also noticed the slight lag too when playing with the sets for sale at the shop. Though of course not 4s, the lag is noticeable though what bothered me more was the placement of the evf or now more correctly, the sensor for the evf but that's subjective too. I'm sure we have pple happily using the GX7 :)

I wonder can this be fixed later with a firmware upgrade. Not good with this technical stuff.

Wah seh surprise! SLRR usually cheapest, if they not, just complain others are better, they can reduce haha. tried with EP5 preorder last time.
i went back and ask them if they had quoted me wrongly. told them about the price next door. they still wanna continue chopping carrot head.

In holland, the price is $1400 with extra battery but currently no stock.

Too long, it's about 1/2-1 sec.

Either it's due to a pre-production unit or there is something wrong with some units. Coming from the EM-5 and NEX-6, there is no noticeable difference for me between EM-5 and GX7 in switching between the LCD and viewfinder. I still have all three cameras and can compare them side by side. The NEX-6 is slightly faster than both. In all 3 units, its not an issue at all for me when shooting.

The EM-5 implementation of auto switching also has a big problem for me. Because I'm long sighted and don't wear glasses when I shoot, I depend on the EVF with it's diopter correction to review just taken photos for sharpness. If you want to use the EM-5 EVF to review, you have to turn off auto switching, which is a PITA. Fortunately, the GX7 works exactly like the NEX-6 and other mirrorless cameras. To review in playback mode, I just lift the camera to my eye. This is one of the ergonomic issues that has been bothering me for the last 2 years with the EM-5. If it's still in the EM-1 and future OMDs, I will have to think hard before getting one again.

I also just made a comparison between gx7 and gh3 on the activation of evf. The gh3 is faster. Not sure if it is due to the different in the positioning of the sensor. Nevertheless, I think the lapse in gx7 is still acceptable and probably wont do any harm in shooting.

Ep5+vf4 is a wee bit faster but it's not that far off on gx7 really. I'm not sure if I understand your prob fully as I don't have em5 anymore. Here's what I test with ep5+vf4, auto sensor on, eye on evf, press playback, it shows on evf. Is this what you can't achieve on em5?

I agree gx7 slight evf lag is ok. If there's some scene that's needed to shoot fast i use touchscreen or just press shutter is fastest, else there's hardly a problem with the lapse.

Comparison with my EP5+VF4 against GX7 , can confirm Wong is right in that it's a wee faster, but noticeable.

Sad I had sold off my EM5 or else could have done a comparison with it too against the GX7. But one thing to note is EM5's EVF resolution of course can't be compared to GX7's.

I have problems understanding your issue with reviewing photos in the EM5. U meant ? Paiseh ..

Overall , do agree with Jackwolf in that of course yes, there is a noticeable lapse, but leading to spoiled chances of capturing that moment ? Not really la.

Nothing to get too worried about , a good camera is a good camera. It takes a good photographer willing to use the camera according to its limitations to produce desired results.

Price war starts...really surprise to see price drop within weeks.
GX7 body dropped $100 in US. Now $899.

M43 user is a winner. :-)

Hi everyone,
Can anyone comment whether it's possible to leave the EVF to always on (to compose with) but also the LCD on for changing settings.
Sort of like on a DSLR where the OVF is used to compose with but the top LCD can be used to change settings without having to peer into the viewfinder.
I can't do this on my EM5 and is one point of annoyance so I've just settled on the auto eye-detect and put up with the slight lag.

On my gh3 it's possible. Just set the LCD display choice to display settings.

Let me try on the EP5 , VF4 when I get home later. Heard that u can have both on (composing and adjusting settings as u said) if I pull out the tilting screen slightly so wana confirm this haha.

I got a GX7 two days ago, and it's so good that I almost feel like it can make me coffee if I ask nicely.

I'd like a kopi ti-Lou , thank u ! ;)

Has anyone bought just the body alone and if so, can let me know the price of it. Thanks in advance.

Just tried , I'm unable to have both the EVF and the camera monitor working at the same time. :/

Got mine last week and did some short test on Sat night. Did some shots with 5-6 secs long exposure and noticed that the noise is quite high compared to the E-M5. Is that common for all Panasonic sensors?

Maybe u can post a sample here ? Generally 5-6 seconds shouldn't be high enough to generate excessive noise and should be considered really a very 'short' long exposure whether for Panasonic or Olympus MFT sensors & GX7 technically wise does have a much improved sensor over GX1.

Just did this during a break from exam marking haha. I did a 2x amt of time you posted for comparison sake.

OOC Jpeg (I cropped pic though) , EP5 + 17/1.8. IS0200, NR on and 12 sec exposure. I don't have any ND filters or would have done a longer one as a better example. The other alternative is to go to the waterway later after dinner and shoot in lower light ;)

ok, back to marking !

Can share the shot & exif? There's Iso125 if u find it noisy. From first look Iso200 vs em5 pretty close not exceptional different.

Thanks Peegee & keithwee. Both cameras I shot the pictures in RAW with NR enabled & converted in Lightroom 5.
This was a test shot in night with GX7 ISO 200, 5 secs http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5459/10017834395_1ff3b76910_o.jpg
I don't have a similar shot with the E-M5 in night scene but I did one in day for 60 secs with a 10 stop ND but looked better.

Probably I am expecting too much for the night scenes. ;p

OK. Will try a lower ISO and probably do a day one as well for the GX7 to compare. Thanks.

beside the noise the image is not sharp at all. Did you set your focus?
