[ News ] GX7 is available for sale in Singapore

I think you should go have a hands on GX7 to feel for yourself, the grip is pretty nice if you are mounting "Bigger" lens and the silence mode is really a plus point for street photography. But I think I am swaying towards EM1 in terms of specs and the 12-40 kit.

No no no. Resisting going anywhere near the camera shops :)

Yesterday, I picked up silver 20mm kit, 16GB sd card, extra original battery, case for $1500

I'm very happy :) with the deal I got, it may not be the best deal but good enough. I was pleasantly surprised with the case, a 2-piece wrap/case that I was going to buy separately anyways, since I like to just throw my camera into my backpack (especially since 20mm will be on cam 90% of time).

Hi, can tell me where you got the camera at? Thanks.

I'm currently at Yodobashi. The listed price for the GX7 is 104,800yen body only 129,800yeb with the 20mm. These are all before tax rebate I believe.

export set or with jap menu?

Be careful for Panasonic. It does not have international warranty.

I am now in Osaka as well, they no longer openly showcase export sets. Not sure if they still sell them...

Support local la! Some bros say it is erhem cheapest right? Ha...

I agree with zan82. For panny bodies it doesn't make sense to buy elsewhere because of the limited warranty. Unless it's a real cheap deal ( e.g. Usd 199 offer for gx1). When you have problems it's inconvenient If the body is non local. Lenses and accessories or oly body is a different story.

Agree also. This time round Pany did a winner with its GX7 pricing. If I'm going to get a GX7 I confirm will buy local this time instead of flying over to HK as always to make my purchase.

Thumbs up for sg pany this time round, for the reasonable pricing compare to other countries and the fast launch..

Seems to me that the prices in Singapore are reasonable. No point getting limited warranty and you have to deal with the foreign plugs and all. I'm going back to SG to buy it.

Zan82, go eat everything you can! I think I put on weight in Osaka!

Just wondering, if you already have a GH3, what is the reason to get this GX7 ?

Thanks

stick to GH3 for its video quality. Get another GH3 as 2nd video cam. The video quality of these 2 cams are different.

Blackcookie, I stay at Pana land, not Umeda or Shinshaibashi area, pretty hard to eat that much ha... Anyways buying in Yodobashi/ Bic Camera/ shops in Den Den Town is similar, no case/ SD card bundling culture here. Freebies culture not prevalent out of Asia actually... Why pay more for less? :D

Checked around on price and slr re is crazy expensive at 1499. Shop next door is 1420. Even cp has cheaper price with credit card payment. Freebies include 16gb card and bag. All 3 shops no free extra battery. Guess have to fly to holland for the extra battery deal.

Many thanks for the info and congrats on your new toy. We both shoot manual legacy lenses on our NEX 5N, so I need your advice on how the focus peaking on GX7 will compare to the 5N. I need longer reach for my existing 200 & 300 mm lenses and am toying with the GX7. Hope you can provide some input either here or through PM. Many thanks.

I've been shooting briefly with the Panasonic 100-300 and GX7. I tried manual peaking focus with AF turned off and no problem nailing the focus. About half the shots below are manual focused. A magnified window comes up once you turn the focusing ring in MF mode. I must say though that the AF with the 100-300 was lightning quick. The shots below are not the most interesting but give an idea on how the 100-300 renders with the GX7. The 100-300 balances quite well with the GX7 which bodes well for other long heavy lenses

All the shots are unprocessed, uncropped out of camera jpegs
