You're quite right; what they really should do is produce AA-size Lithium-Ion batteries.

Not sure if it's possible though.

There have been some rechargeable Li-Ion CR-V3 batteries produced (the type the fL-36 and FL-50 can use), and these batteries only have 1/3 of the capacity of their non-rechargeable counterparts. IOW, not worth it.

As for Canon's noise reduction, as Canon's use CMOS sensors they need all the noise reduction they can get, far more than CCDs need.

Noise noise...what noise. Was at a photography class and the cat shot was blown up on a projector...the noise was not even seen. The output is similar to those shot with Ns and Cs. (except Oly's was richer) A S3Pro was also in the class. the so called dynamic range still cannot beat the Oly. So what's the problem??

After the lessons, I am now more confident in using the E-330 that I have. (except for the banding)

I agree fully with the noise part but I have used the s3pro for a year and s3pro dynamic range is WAY ahead of my old E1 and my present E300/E330.

One jpeg picture will not tell the whole story. Of course you can blow the highlights of the s3pro in Jpeg depending on what you set, but if you shoot raw, the highlight range is at least 2 stops higher than my current E330. The first thing I tested for my E330 is how much highlight I can recover in from the raw files. I think only around 1 EV stop only, unlike of s3pro's 3-4 stops.

Would not deny that wind30. As all of us were beginners the shots may not have capitalize on the ability of the camera. You should have seen what came out of the L1 in the hands of the newbies.:o It sure did no justice to that camera.

Agree. S3Pro is almost the same league with Canon EOS 1D/1Ds series in term of DR. Wider from my E-1 as well.

My good colleage in D-SLR IR modification said, E-300/500/330 is very tight DR even comparing to Nikon. The big advantage from Olympus is doing quite well to choose the right gamut although the DR is not too wide.
