hi

how do u pose this cute little baby this way? isn't she/he sleeping?

It's actually quite simple once you know it. All newborn can do this except those who don't like to be on their tummy.

Yes, he is asleep but most of the time, they will wake up when u put them in this position.

He might be in between sleep and awake... The thing is, newborn don't smile when they are awake... Only smile when they are asleep.

Yes, the arm will support the head and you can leave it like that for a few minutes.

Just things that I learn through shooting lots of newborn...

Ok... But please be very careful with what you are doing with the newborn. Good luck with it.

It is not the parents you should be worry about, it is the newborn... It may be a good idea to spend a good 15-30 minutes per pose if you are posing them.

If your friend is first time parents, you may want to minimize the cry from the newborn. Once the parents are stress, you won't get any shots as the newborn will be stress too. That's not a good way to promote newborn shoot.

Nice original work agetan, would love to learn more from you. I guess the reason for you not using speedlite or studio flash is that it might hurt baby's eye huh? It also gave a good skin tone by using available light through the window I supposed? Do you use any reflector or filter for enhancement?

I use natural light as I light the "softness" of it.

There is no research showing flash hurt the newborn's eye and that is not the reason why I don't use it.

I do use reflector if I need it, but most of the time, I will use what's available for me.

The biggest point about newborn photography is not on the technique, is the handling of the newborn.

If one can't handle being pee on or poo on when carrying the newborn, this is not something that one should consider.

Shooting the newborn with clothes on or nappy on just gonna make the baby looks "missing" as they are so small.

Nappy always looks terrible on the pictures.. I am just being particular about the details...

Anyway...
