just want to make a suggestion.
Why not group newbies and seniors right at the forum.
1 senior - 2 or 3 newbies?
Then newbies follow seniors around on site for shooting.
Kind of more structure way of guidance....
Probably work well in a place whereby you will move about quite a bit instead of mostly in a single location like the esplanade roof top.
i think your idea is a good one. However it doesn't take into account other factors like last-minute cancellation by either the senior or newbie, or being late, etc.
If there is one senior early and maybe 3 or 4 newbies who aren't supposed to be his 'disciples' for the day, then he can't just ignore them right? If he starts guiding them, then when the senior arrives, they're not likely to change seniors...

to have it so rigid makes the organising more difficult. I prefer a more relaxed arrangement. As long as those who want to learn, ask... and the seniors willingly guide, i think all will be well...
The Newbies Outing is a bit different from a regular photo outing. The idea is not to roam around and look for spectacular angles, but rather to have a location worth shooting from, and guiding newbies to shoot the best photos they can from there.

I admit that once people acquire some competency in photography, they'll find the Newbies Outings a bit boring. Nothing more to learn from a bunch of amateurs.

Then those who have 'graduated' should go on to organise their own outings so that the guides can join in too and be a normal shooter!

Cheers :D

oic... good idea not workable... not sure if I will be able to join the upcoming one as I am unable to sit in front of a computer when the thread is posted this coming Friday....hotcake sell fast... how to grab one....

Just like buying property, somebody might be willing to give up their slot for a 'small' fee :bsmilie:

Perhaps if enough seniors take up, the group size can be slightly bigger? Headcount from the group pic of last outing was 27 people. But location must be able to accomodate the numbers like the last outing.

yeah... that is the headache :) My headache... :)

Look out for new thread which I will start on FRIDAY 30 APRIL 0700hrs.
In the meantime I wil rack my brains for venue.
Outing will likely be on Wednesday 12 May.

Feel free to Contribute your suggestions.
No "advance booking" before new thread opens though. This one not Iron Man 2 movie!! :)

Approx 34 hours to go! :)

A lot of launches this week:

1) The Helix bridge
2) Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort
3) Iron Man 2
4) last but not least, Newbies Outing Part 9 thread! :bsmilie:

Dont forget to pass some of the 'headache' to Mr Fujiwara ... keke :bsmilie:
I do most of the work before the event, getting it all organized. Then it's his turn on the day of the outing itself! :)
Works well that way! :)

Suddenly my eyes' lips, ears, eye brows, toes, all started to twitch .....

hahahah must have been torture... all that itching! :)

on a side note, glad to see a few more people trying to organize outings. A bit flawed, but still we should encourage them to keep going at it!
* wish they wouldn't use "newbie outing" though... hahahaha :bsmilie:
