get the nikon d5000.

get a D5000, if u intend to get a canon...can consider 550D instead of 500D.
my advise is to avoid places like courts, best denki etc.....

Lots of threads on where to get cameras... TS should read them before buying at the major electronic stores ... having said that nothing against those stores either :D

These electronics shops are having this gimik sale as an all year round everyday sale.
If you really want to save some cool cash, better go to the recommended shops here at clubsnap. If you're eyeing for canon better go for their purchase privilage program and get a 20.5% discount off MSRP

Welcome to CS:)Get Pentax K-x lah...

Pentax is a specialist camera brand cannot find in general stores like Best and Courts :D

Nikon D5000....:D or D3000
If you want to go with Canon, pick the 550D, its just a bit ex from the D5000 or D3000 though

Welcome to CS! Get D5000.
If u have consider canon 550D. Take 550D.

TS,

If you have the budget A550 is a nice camera (just note the costs of the lenses).
If you have no budget or one that is like $1200, go for a Pentax Kx ($790 w/ 18-55mm kit lens) which packs a serious punch in terms of features and high ISO noise reduction.
You can't find one in Best/Harvey/Courts though. Just go to some of the shops suggested by Cleonbus

Thanks for all the replies.
I have already read the thread on the shops to go and buy before writing this newbie thread.

Just thought of pushing the salesperson of a better bargain.

For now I am down to Canon 550D and Nikon D5000. Both offer the same lens in Kit I.
I am torn on the LCD display; the angle varied from Nikon is attractive.

Once again, thank you for the replies.
