Newbie Reporting with a Question: Sony SAL18250 or Minolta Beercan?

For value for money, comparable iq to 1680z, faster lens in exchange for shorter zoom can try tamron 17-50. Im not a pixel peeper but 1750 has become my walkabout lens.

image-wise it's much sharper. but for low-light shooting.. it's not that great. focusing is quite slow in dim conditions.

it's also a variable aperture lens, from f3.5 - f4.5... the same max aperture as the 18250 (assuming that's the lens you're using), except that the reach isn't as great.

going to hong kong for a vacation, saw the hong kong sony selling the cz1680 at HKD5390 which is less than SGD1K even if you use credit card exchange rate. Don't know can claim taxes anot but i am assuming cannot. Also, here the 35mmF1.8 is all sold out, i wonder if its available there anot at HKD1590 which is about SGD$270. Warranty can be an issue if its not international...
