newbie reporting & seeking comments on D90 purchase

Bro, you pay everything using CASH??? :sweatsm: :sweatsm:

no offence..... I alone dont spend that much too. Its combined spending wif wife :bsmilie:
no leh.. I pay for petrol and meals and a number of utilities bills with my credit cards. I think average about $600-700/mth for all cards combined. 1 year about $7k+

so this WOW offer, the 'full price' (before the $600 rebate) is how much?

Full price will be $1528. Need a purchase of $2000 to qualify for rebate. Hence thinking of getting the hoya filter, grip + battery and 55-200mm lens. All in abt $2000 :bsmilie:

interesting... so you end up effectively paying (Price - $600) for it?
provided you can hit the 16K of course... I know I can't!

Had that in mind -the joy of having the latest toy!!!! but is the D7k a more accomplished body over the D90???

Thought of using the $$ diff to get extra lens, battery or even a flash.....

D7000 is the replacement body for D300 and D90. Uses newer sensor and better ISO performance and comes with AF video on DSLR.

So yes, it is a more accomplished body compared to D90 .

:)

darn!!!

another distractor! though could confirm my purchase this evening

guess will sleep on it and dream abt the choices tonight.

let's see if there are any more inputs....

I'm not sure if it's actually a D90 replacement, coz from what I've read, D90 is still in production.
Furthermore, features such as dual memory card slots, memory banks, and legacy lens compatibility don't sound like intermediate level features.

haha why not go for the one that you set your heart on at first?;) if like this you will nv get a cam, because newer ones will come out and you will wait and wait and wait, and btw i dun think it's a good deal for a 600$ rebate but you got to spend 16k.. it's jus feel like you are spending 16000-600 = 15400 more :dunno:

if i were you i will go to the recommended shops listed in the price list, that's where majority of people here go to and you wun go wrong with it, unless you present yourself to the opportunities to get chop...:)

Arrgghh!!!! More POISON.... tonight will have nightmares instead of sweet dreams liao!

Have tried the 500D, 550D, 50D, 5D mk II, D90, and A55 (all compliments of several good buddies mostly from the Canon camp and were HIGHLY recommending the 60D)

Honestly, at my amature level of skills, could not tell much diff between them as all the above felt rather good to hold :embrass:

The decision on D90 is because it was the first dslr body that I "molested", hence 1st love hard to forget

Point noted..... just that the 16k/yr would be roughly wat my wife and I would be spending jointly, so thought why not get the rebate as well

As for the cam, most likely D90 but like the "curves" of the A55 :embrass:

love at first sight

but honestly D90 is a good cam, that is why I change camp from Canon to Nikon :bsmilie:

still can use third party lens somemore due to the built in AF motor

Sigh.... christmas sale and no drop in price, just more freebies

Wife saw ad and compared printed specs of D90 with D5000 (apparently all same except LCD screen).

Then she asked the million dollar qn, " Why is the price different?"

Stunned for a monent, then told her that kit len diff and D90 has built-in AF motor.
Luckily, she stopped at that.

All the "sifus", is the answer correct?

edit: hehe... just saw bro strickback4's reply abt AF motor

the difference is more than that.... :)
But d5000 has the articulating LCD, which might be the winning difference to some.

For me, I absolutely lurve the top LCD and the bigger brighter viewfinder (uses pentaprism instead of pentamirror). AND... there's enough real estate to rest my pinky finger!

the problem is that most people new to digital photography are still stuck in the "how many megapixels?" line of thinking... Hard to correct that misconception.

they see "d5000 got 12 MP; D90 also 12 MP.... how come D90 more expensive??"

hanor hanor.... esp even Nikon never highlight the "extra" and simply print similar features in their ads
