Do not worry so much..... just enjoy shooting!!!!

not to forget the articulating lcd screen as well....love it so much :)

reading this post remind me when Canon do not offer Live view and Olympus E3 offering Articulating LCD... lot of them was saying don't like to shoot using live view... haha!!!

The 550D is far from being crappy. In the hands of a skilled photographer it can produce stunning pictures. In the hands of a crappy photographer even the 1D3 with some L lens will produce crappy pictures. Browse websites like flickr, pbase and others where you can search for pics taken by certain cameras / lenses. You'll be amazed ..
Do not overrate the pure technical capabilities of a camera, do not underestimate the importance of photographic skills behind the viewfinder. The photographer takes / makes the picture, the camera is merely capturing photons and converting them into digital data and files.

Well said... I completely agree.

Well, today I have a chance to feel 550D, 600D and 1100D at Alan Photo in Sim Lim. Well, I really like the feeling of 600D, 550D feel not bad too but 1100D really plastic feeling which I don't like. 600D grip feel cool, as for 550D after a few mins starting to feel warm. I met a saleman in there, and say that is not how good the camera is. Is how good your skill is. Wow... sound like Octarine. But I feel what he say is correct. :) So I will go and get it on Thursday.

i recommend you head to funan instead, check out TK Foto or peninsula plaza for Cathay Photo.

Hi guys, I feel a bit bad. I don't take 550D package but brought 600D. I feel a bit cheapo, cause 600D giving a small dry cabinet (AIPO AS-21L) with a voucher for buying tripod from Alan Photo. Before I get started with my camera, I still need to study for my examine. Bore. :(

Aiya... just study first, and after exam, you just go and enjoy your 600D.........

550D or 600D, as long as it is a camera.... just use it and shoot!!!! ;)

Thanks, guys. For your advise.

raydio, I am on budget lah. 17-55 f/2.8 cost about 1899, Me newbie don't need so good one, right?

tecnica, I'm very boreing now. Why whatever I buy is like EOL or going to EOL one? Sian. lol

Octarine, thanks for your lesson of lights. But which camera is good for a newbie to start with? D550, D600, or D60? Or should I wait for D650?

Blur Shadow, thanks.

Thanks again for all your advise.

Hi!

I would suggest that you get a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8... I'm using one and it's my first lens that I bought too! It became my most-used walkabout lens with good quality pictures! The first-hand lens costs about $600 for the Non-VC version (= Non-IS)... Serving me well for about 2 years now!

Slowly slowly then I buy other lenses of different focal length and f-stop...

Cheers,
Edelene

my 1st out of budget lens was the tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 non VC.... felt painful parting with $500 back in 2010.
I learnt how to use it, take nice photos with it and went everywhere with it..

Used it until I know its limitations and eventually sold it after all the good lessons it taught me.
Still think its a good beginner lens..

Alternatively you can take a look at the personal classified sections for good 2nd hand deals. dont be fooled by the 2nd hand tag, many are as good as new (without that factory smell) and cost much cheaper! U can save that extra few hundred bucks to buy a tripod or something. just my 2 cents =)
