TS, would you do a check on Canon G16. It is a more advanced P&S camera with fast zoom lens. Perfect for experimenters and new comers. Light on the weight and wallet. Once you start to enjoy photography and yearn for certain features to supplement your shooting habits, maybe can upgrade to your preferred system like Pentax, Fuji Sony and etc.
