Newbie Guide to Filters

Well, if that's the case.. Consider it 破财消灾 (lose money to avoid disaster)... I guessed you weren't badly injured right?

Not injured whatsoever...

can u post a picture of the shot to see the degree of colour cast before correction? Might consider this as an alternative.

Will have to wait. realized I bought the wrong version with the 3mm gasket for hitech holder... I am on Lee holder... shucks.

Hitech Pro Stopper comes in 2 variants: w/ 3mm gasket and w/ 1.5mm gasket. The former is meant for Hitech filter holder as Hitech holder's first filter slot sits further away from its base. Those who own a Lee foundation kit needs to get the 1.5mm gasket version... the 3mm version simply too thick and it will not fit into Lee holder.

I tot the former is meant for 85mm filter holder such as cokin P holder? It's also cheaper than the 1.5mm versioning remembered.

there is only 1 type of Hitech Pro Stopper for Cokin-P holders, and that is tailored only for Cokin holders. The price is much cheaper than 100x100 variants because of its smaller size, nothing to do with the thickness of gasket. :)

i using the 3mm gasket 1 w the sponge thingy...
fits perfectly okay into my lee holder leh

i was actually asking alancwr to provide us pic of his shots taken with the filter. But for your case, i suppose you can do an exchange since it cannot be used/haven't use yet.

The 3mm version is 85mm X 85mm square filter right? Isn't it too small for Lee Filter holder? The 1.5mm version is 100mm X 100mm.

i think theres a misunderstanding haha
the pouch he gave me might be mixed up i tink...on the pouch its labelled as 3mm

but i measured the filter itself it's 10CM wide..

but the 10cm wide came w the sponge also

as per requested

thanks! still remember how much does it cost? ;p

the pouch? $49. I think it is really good, since it:

1) comes with filter sleeve that fit the 100x150mm filters perfectly
2) many slots
3) still has room for the holder once the sleeve is in the pouch
4) has velcro at the bottom of the sleeve, so when in the pouch, it is very secure.
5) has velcro belt loop for S&F belts, but also fit on Think Tank belts that I use.
6) has a special button closure design for one handed use.

Field tested it in Vietnam, climbed up a very tall rock on the coast... no problems handling my filters and stuff on the 1.5 storey high rock.

The filter is 100mm x 100mm... the 3mm refers to the thickness of the foam gasket that is on glued on the filter. When you fit yours into the lee holder, was it very tight?

the 3mm version is also 100mm x 100mm... 3mm only refers to the gasket thickness... anyway, 3mm version is meant for Hitech 100mm holder.

Just did the exchange this afternoon... and bought another filter... a reverse GND! ;)
