HI i am new to this field and i am interested to go into this area of photography. I would like to kn ow how much would a 1st hand RF cost and where i can get it. I was thinking something not so powerful mayb Yashica 35 GSN or the Minolta hi-matics .

pls advice.. thanks =)

If I remember correctly, there are hardly any new fixed lens rangefinders like the Yashica GSN or Minolta Hi-matics already. Your best bet is to buy a good working condition one from second hand stores or CS buy and sell; there are some on sale now.

The brand new fixed lens rangefinder (or something similar) would be the Holgas.

For first hand rangefinders, you are still able to get brand new interchangable lens rangefinders. Cost for these would be much higher though. A brand new body like the value of money Voigtlander Bessa line would cost you from around $830. Lenses start from around $500 each.

Then there is of course the brilliant Leica which is available brand new. They would set you back over $4000 for the body; lenses can cost around the same too.

For Voigtlanders, check out Chiif's site.

Holgas are fixed lens RF? :dunno:

What did you get that from???? :dunno:

:bsmilie: Lol, actually I do not know how to classify Holga because it uses zone focusing ;p

TS, apologies for the Holga thingy, it is not a rangefinder :embrass:

Get a Minolta Hi-matic 7s... it sould be ard $100+ for a 2nd hand if you can find 1.... but depending on conditions... it may cost abit more for a really mint & perfect one....
