Everyone of us started from zero. From a newbie to experienced photographer, as the knowledge and skills advances, so is the personal ego. This however, does not applies to everyone out there. There are still 'senior' members who are photographers themselves, will help new ones. Positive critics are good for improvements same goes to negative remarks are not always bad.
When we do critics, find good points out out those bad areas and comment on the negative parts. After that compliments the good areas which you identified earlier to encourage the new ones. Keep the tone of reply down in order not to confuse anybody. This is not just communications, it's effective communications.
Finally, through self study and research then practical, everyone will learn - not just the new ones, even we, so called 'seniors' in CS are learning from the new ones too.
