I just bought the 18 - 270 on thursday.... just wondering if its just mine that is very lose. When I shake the lens, I can hear something(I believe its the barrel zoom extension) inside it moving...is it suppose to be like this?

Could someone having this lens please share with me your experience with it?

Mine too, but shouldn't be any problem with me as long as the lens in working order;)

Oic....so its not just me....i thought it was a manufacturer's defect...

Its a good walk abt lens...however AF is quite slow in low light conditions(restaurants) when about 200mm

Hi,

I just both the lens and its a great, except when i am using live view on myD90 and extend the distance, the focusing mechanism doesn't seem to work, it will go off focus and stay off focus (seems to be stuck). the only way i could overcome this was to reduce the distance and try to refocus, but strangely when i use the viewer, everything works fine? Is it just me (newbie)?

Appreciate some feedback on this so that i can return the lens if its faulty.

Thanks
Ray

iirc someone has reported something like tat before when recording D-movie.
I assume the same thing will happen for LV.
Your lens is not faulty.
It just is not 100% compatible with LV/D-movie.
anyway, a lot of lenses have been reported so.
nevertheless, D90 still an excellent camera, just that LV and D-movie are not the usual things that a DSLR depends strongly on.
Viewfinder is still ur best friend! :bsmilie:

Hi mybearbrick,

Thank you for the update, at least thats a relief to hear.

Infact i am very satisfied with the results of the pictures that i have taken with it so far at Changi Cove last weekend.

I will post the pictures when i learn how to do so later on.

Rgds

ZoomP, call up JELCorp to verify: 6248 5333
I am quite certain there is no need for u to go down to Changi.

Thanks, good thing I called JELCorp realising it's probably wrong info. Faxed in already

bought mine from camera workshop.. realised later that they are not an authorised dealer for tamron. hence, not entitled to the tamron promotion. no $100 voucher for me damn! am i the only joker in this situation?

nevertheless, I believe TCW's TAMRON lenses are always cheaper than the authorized retailers?

Used this len for the chingay shots yesterday. A bit disappointed as the focus speed is slow. Missed a lot of golden opportunities.

I do not own Nikon 18-200mm before. So, not sure how fast is it.

I was in Dubai last week....

The weather in Dubai is usually dry and with a bright blue sky most of the time. The hotel I was staying was located very close to the Dubai international airport. I had the opportunity to shoot at commercial airplanes taking off from it. It's winter season, and the sun angle was just perfect to shoot airplanes taking off from the airport.

I shot this EMIRATES A380 taking off from Dubai Airport, at a road junction located just behind the Renaissance Hotel. The location is less than ideal, as usual, seeing too much of the belly of the airplane.

Using my D90, Tamron 18-270mm lens for the job; F8.0, 1/1250 sec (aperture priority), ISO 200, EV -1/3, auto WB, zoomed in at 155mm. I used the same aperture priority and other settings to shoot the rest of the photos as well. Shot in RAW format.

Unfortunately, Dubai's sky is quite dusty due to the presence of smog, which affects the visibility considerably, despite its excellent blue sky background. I have to do quite a bit of Photoshop post-processings to get the contrast and colours to an acceptable level.
