New Sony convert reporting in!

To which I will ask, so how many of the lens have the asker bought, and how many is he / she owning right now ? And for those IS lens, how much more is paid over the non IS version ? Well, Sony users never have to pay for the in lens IS... :bsmilie:

IIRC, Sony now have 33 lenses available, excluding 3rd party and Minolta lens...

Just got my 70-210mm Beercan today... Sweet.... I would say the optics are comparable to my ex 70-200mm USM F4..
And the best part is, the beercan can be used like a WW II hand grenade... any robber ganna hit by that, sure suffer from concussion one lor...

its the legendary beercan leh..:bsmilie:

anyway, the only thing i can think of that is bad about sony is the 3rd party stuffs available.. many are only built for canon and nikon.. take 3rd party flash for example.. i have to use a sony adapter to be able to use a Yongnuo 460.

Actually, there is another workaround. Use the F42 or F58 to optically trigger the YN460.
I have the YN460 too , almost sold it, until I found out the wireless commander function of my A55 on my F42. Use the F42 to optically trigger the YN460. The setup will be ideal, frontal, and both side fill light...

Yes i agree with you.. but then original flash are so expensive.. i seriously cant afford a $300+(2nd hand) flash right now.. and the yn460 only cost $70 from ebay + sony adapter.. but have to use manually though.. i guess first flash learn manual would be better? haha..

Manual Flash cannot be compared to TTL flash, with wireless function somemore. If Sony flash are expensive, I dunno what to say of Canon's flash.... I was happy when I know the price of a F42...

i mean they are cheap compared to C and N's flash but to me, price still on the high side since i'll be using off-camera so im better off buying a cheaper flash..;)

I don't think its a good idea if u want to use it on the hotshoe.

Manual flash isn't an easy option. Even with a light meter, u still need to try a few times to get it right.

And you can't High Speed Sync with manual flash. Try getting an old Minolta 5600 flash instead.

Unless you intend to use the yn460 as a remote flash, then its a different story.

i bought the YN460 to learn about flash.. never had a ext flash before... and i guess most of the time i'll be using it off-camera.. i do intend to get a F42AM if i see the need of an external flash..

dont worry, alot of photographers use manual flash. If u r in a place where the lightning doesnt change much, u wont need to change power settings.

Just get used to manual flash, dont rely on auto modes.

Auto/TTL is convenient when u need to keep moving from a dark to a bright place/room (like u keep moving indoors and outdoors for ur shots), but if u r not moving between rooms much, then manual flash is just as effective. U just need to take a few shots at the beginning, to determind what power to use, then u r set to go.
