New Sigma lenses announced

Update on the prices from Sigma:

12-24mm F4.5-5.6 II DG HSM - MSRP of US$1,400
APO 120-300mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM - MSRP of US$4,700

Still waiting on 50-150 & 105 macro prices.

The 12-24 is more expensive than the predecessor. I wonder what is new to warrant the price increased.

The 120-300 looks interesting though. Any reviews on that lens yet?

This is from dpreview about the 12-24. http://www.dpreview.com/news/1102/11020820sigmapricelens.asp

"... Revisions to the lens include the weather-resistant design, as well as the inclusion of one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass element and four of the company’s new “F” Low Dispersion FLD glass elements to compensate for color aberration and provide high image quality...."

It's going to be available in end April while the 120-300 will be available in late February, so we should see some reviews on that soon in March I guess.

still S$2k for a 4-5.6 lens is in the territory of EF16-35 f2.8. I hope the street price will be closer to S$1.5-1.6k. I will keep my eyes on that one.

These will be my 2012 dreams. Need to work hard this year for more bonus.

I am also really curious about the 120-300 and how it will fare against the 70-200mkII in terms of IQ and AF speed. Another lens to keep my eyes on.

finally...50 150mm has OS
im a happy user of this lens..
useful FL and not really heavy

With the new splash-proof design, SLD and new FLD elements, dunno if I should upgrade my current 12-24 to the II.

Yes. I think the 12-24 v1 is rather weak towards the 24mm end. Hopefully the v2 will make it consistently sharp across its entire FL. I hope the addition of the SLD and FLD will allow for front filters and smaller lens.

I don't really have any problems at the 24mm end and front filters are still not an option due to the design of the lens.

I am keen with the 120-300 too. On same range comparison, the 70-200 OS is very close to canon's II. I tested at the shop for more than 30mins with both lens on a same body. Amazing I would say. But I cannot affirmed whether the copy I bought was typically good because it was the only copy then.

Henceforth, I am pretty positive with the 120-300 and the 12-24!

Seems like the newer ones with OS gona weigh much more Thn the previous model... Looks longer too... Was very keen with older model due to it's weight n length but only HK got stocks...

Any news on price?

I might be interested in the revised 12-24mm if indeed it is much sharper than its older film era predecessor.
Price looks a little too steep. i guess still no competitor in that range for now ..

Agree on the pricing. I'll make some comparisons with my current one once it's out in local shops and then will justify if it's worth upgrading.

The FF UWA space is heating up now... very exciting...

Just tried the Tokina 16-28/2.8 and it is wonderful. But will hold off and wait and see what else is coming in the months ahead!!

Wow, they took 9 years to come up with mark 2? Cause I read from the review that mark 1 was first introduced in 2002?

Sorry guys, I am new to sigma!!! Planning to test out 12-24 mark one if it's good will buy one for my Europe trip.

But the new price US 1.4K is steep. Really Thinking hard just to settle for the mark 1 version.

Waiting for all your review for mark 2 :)
