Any idea how much does the battery cost as i was tinking of getting a spare battery ;)

An estimate would be around $85-95 for the original battery. Third party offerings go for around $35.

Hey all I'm also a relatively new owner of the 450D, I'd like some recommendations for lenses. I'll be heading to Hokkaido this december and will be taking lots of pictures i suppose. What lenses would be good for
-capturing people yet still being able to see the overall background?
-just taking scenic pictures (relatively wide angle)

Oh and can someone enlighten me on the difference b/w these 2 lenses and the best ways to use them
-EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
-EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM

Many thx

If go Japan, take the 10-22 with you. Won't regret

Anybody have a problem with their 450D overexposing shots? I had the same problem with my previous camera (300D) and I figured that the shots come out best at -1 EV instead. :(

i think that depends on the lighting n the color of the object. i have some pictures taken at -1 while others taken at +1. usually most of my pictures r ard -1/3.

Got my camera 2 months back. No regrets ! Now aiming for a new lens, maybe the new 18-200mm lens launching later this year.

As for the over-exposure, i don't have the problem. Check out some of my photos in the Landscape and travel. Title is Tasmania with Love Part I and Part II

A fully charged battery can last quite long for the 450D. I used it once over 3 days, no flash, about 600 shots, and the battery was down only half bar. Of course if you gonna be far from power source, like trekking in the mountains, then you will really need to spend on more batteries.

Lets form a 450D newbie club lol

any good site i can read up about dslr and the lens?

Using Av mode with bigger aperture number. Then you will get a deeper depth of field. :)

I think that it is a good idea but I think that there is already a thread related to that.

Maybe we can use that thread to form a 450D club.
How do you all think about that? :)
I have tried the camera for sat and sun.
So far, it serves my need well.
The 50mm F1.8 is really fantastic lens for use although it is the free gift from the extended warranty. It is nice to use for portrait and indoor shoot. Strongly recommended

why not consider 70-200 f4L? unless you need a all in one lens that norm compromises on image quality?
